Tranny fluid change

Long story short.....2015 50i w 45k miles. Call dealer for price on tranny fluid change they quote me 550$. Tell me it's a lifetime fluid and they typically don't suggest doing it unless there are issues w shifting or gears dropping. Any thoughts on price?? Or if I'm changing too soon?? Thanks guys

Too soon, unless there were clearly some operating issues. If you plan to keep the car beyond 150K, then consider 60K - 70K OCI - drain & fill - no flush. ZF recommends 60K for this transmission. Do diffs while u have on the rack. Don't know about prices. Check qualified indy shops if available.

Pretty much what skeet said.
And the price isn't too bad that dealer quoted you.
It'll cost you 250 or more to buy a filter/pan and fluid.

I agree it is too soon. As far as the price goes, they could just be quoting you for draining the fluid and filling back up. If you were going to change the fluid, most people replace the pan which has a built in filter. And you will need to replace the screws. As others mentioned ZF recommends at 60k miles and sells a kit for around $250 that includes pan (with built in filter and gasket), oil, and screws.

$550 for service at the dealer and at 45k miles isn't that bad. ZF recommended 80k-120k km for fluid and filter change, the 45k is a little under the low end of the scale (80k km is around 49k miles).

Always replace the pan [with built-in filter] and the screws.

Yes it's lifetime fluid... short lifetime of the transmission if you don't change the fluids ever.
