Talk us down! 1-hour to close x35d vs DHP/Adaptive x50i

I know this topic has been beaten to death; but now it's a reality.

Brother-in-law needs a second vehicle for daily driver; I have a x35d and love it, but would like to have opinions other than my own. With the limited Supply and high demand of x35d M-Sport it could be months before another ideal one comes around

** Strong desire is x35d, M-Sport, Mineral/Mocha Nappa, Adaptive-M **

Here goes -

1 - Neither are BMW CPO, but … Luxury car dealer has provided Car Fax and has BMW CPO checklist and has conducted the inspection same as BMW would: replaced tires, coolant, oil, etc.
2 - Both vehicles have ~6 months Mfg warranty; Dealer will provide low cost 1-year, unlimited mile warranty

X35d / 2015 ( $42K), 31,000 Miles
Alpine / Mocha Napp

All Packages plus M-Sport, Harmon Kardon, 3rd Row, Active Steering; Ceramic, Soft-Close, etc

X50i / 2015 ($41K), 39,863 Miles
Mineral/Ivory Nappa

All Packages plus includes Exec Pkg, DHP, Adaptive-M,, M-Sport, Harmon Kardon,

They will get an extended 3rd party warranty. Bumper to Bumper 5 yr/100K is averaging $4,2500.

Crazy that this is so difficult! What is the best deal?

Thanks!!

This one is up to you, if you want a great reliable daily commuter with excellent millage and perfect look with all the features- take the diesel one. If you want some kick and want it to be your dream car- take 50 and have fun, well worth it even it might cost you more to maintain and might have some reliability issues here in there, nothing major but just search this forum and you will see what are the most common issues. I picked 35d, added 6WB cluster, knee pads and I'm super happy about it, performance is great and there are options for tune. If I would have to choose between these two today- I would take the diesel again.

I have a mineral white/mocha nappa 50i w/ DHP as well as a 35d w/ Adaptive M. I love the 35d and feel that it makes for a better daily driver, as well as a long distance cruiser. The 50i is just for fun.

You were all point on and added a voice of reason! It came down to practicality. They went with the x35d and only lost 1/2 of the deposit on the x50i.

Funny thing - A gentlemen and his partner where literally waiting with another SA to cash purchase whichever one was left since they couldn't go wrong either way. The couple cheered when they learned they would be the proud owners of the x50i. On the other hand, my brother-in-law admitted that he knows he made the practical choice, but would second guess it everyday when he comes upon one on the road!
