Most likely buying my first X5
Hello all just signed up for the forums.
I haven't owned a car in almost 8 years since I've moved to NYC from CLT. I'm finally taking the plunge and am most likely buying my first X5. I've attached the link below, there's no pics yet as the dealership recently got it in and they're still getting it showroom ready. Thoughts? https://www.bmwofbrooklyn.com/invent...kr6c53g0j82519 |

I can't say if price is right, but the 50i will give you plenty of smiles per mile, if you are into that..
Does it come with 20", 19" wheels or both? Sounds nicely equipped, but says standard suspension. Not sure if that means 4 springs, or air for the rear. But if you are into sportier handling, be prepared to upgrade the suspension. Msport package and aerodynamic kit is a plus! Just find out what they mean by aerodynamic kit, so it's not just a rear spoiler... Take it for a testdrive and see what kind of deal you can get, hopefully it is the right one! |

I too am considering my first purchase of an X5. My current serious consideration is for a 2017 50i with 42k miles on it. It is not CPO, but has had only one owner. I'd like the opinion of the users of this forum. Mileage too high? Warranty too close to expiry? It has the m sport and executive package among many other nice perks. The price seems nice at $42k. Think I should pull the trigger, or should I run the other way and keep looking?

When buying ours recently I really paid attention to the Carfax. For example, mine was a CPO that went to auction and ended up on an Autonation lot.
There is a vendor on the classified that sells a Carfax for $6. Make sure you drive one. Enjoy! |

The newer version of 4.4 V8 (N63TU2, or second technical update) features twin scroll turbos. In addition, the position of the oil coolant heat exchanger changed + many other changes. I believe 2017 BMW X5 has N63TU (the first technical update). In N63TU engine, the location of catalytic converters hasn't changed. The excessive heat tends to slowly destroy hoses, gaskets and valve stem seals. This issue tends to surface more often than none at around 50K. I suggest to verify the service history of the vehicle. I remember reading about this issue in this tread: https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1438212 |
