X5 sunroof delete
Gents, I'm a pretty tall guy with a long torso.
I find the X5's moonroof / sunroof takes too much away from head space. I'm looking to buy a used F15 however I'm struggling to find one without a moonroof / sunroof. Was it ever possible to order an F15 without a moonroof / sunroof ? When I look at the 2019 model (even the M) it doesn't seem like its possible. |

I have never seen one with a sunroof… I'm curious how different it feels inside as result. I don't open up mine that much anyways, I don't think I would miss it.

Thank you for the quick response gents. Been looking for 2014 models problem is there's not many of them below 30k miles
Anyone else have a newer model 2015+ that doesn't have a sunroof and is U.S. based ? Just wondering if I'm wasting my time looking for an elusive unicorn |

I don’t understand, wouldn’t it be better to have a sunroof in your situation?

Our X3 didn’t have one and I remember the salesman saying it was nice because of something like 3 extra inches of headroom. It was pretty cool without one. The headliner was black so you couldn’t tell anyways.

Are you 7' or something? I'm 6'2'' and there's lot of space above my head. And I prefer to seat upright.

Im pretty much 6'5" ... but have a long torso I think and its not comfortable at all to sit in one with a moonroof. If I wanna sit up right without hunching over I hit my head on the lip of the moonroof.

Ordering a new car - it's a different story. You can throw out an option you don't want from a package, though you will still pay for it. But F15 is not in the production anymore.

If you are having a problem with your height <> sunroof, check if seat can be lowered.
Friend of mine did it on his Merc, I remember him saying that mercedes could supply lower seat mounting brackets (or whatever these parts are called). This way you could drive whatever F15 you want. |

RealOEM doesn't list any f15 X5 without the sunroof (at least I couldn't find any parts that match the criteria).
So, based on that, you could always do custom sunroof delete. HIghly skilled body shop would be able to do it and make it appear as if it is stock. Some coding might be required to eliminate sunroof errors - if any pop up. However, it might be very pricy. |

LOL ! Loving the responses guys very funny haven't had tall jokes since primary school
So with this roof part I could have it installed .... what kinda costs are we talking about ? Alternatively I can look for an X5 without the feature code "S402A" which is the panoramic roof right ? |

Just look for the X5 without any options at all and you’ll find one - sunroof comes with the most basic package.

I asked my parts guy if the roof panel and the headliner are available in the US. The roof in most modern cars is bonded with adhesive and not welded (the E46 was possibly the last BMW with a welded roof) so replacement is not easy but also not horrible. It's probably $1000 in labor for a roof panel install. |
