well the instructions were not spot on for the M3 and the paddles carried over fine aside from a minor issue with fitments that created a minor gap but it's no big deal. I'm going to see if I can replace my paddles with the M5 ones since they light up.

Very nice! I watched all the videos you posted and noticed the shift light would blink even though you're nowhere near the redline. Why is this? Does it still have to calibrated for the M3's higher redline? Or perhaps is it blinking because the car is not in gear and the system recognizes this and thus blinks the shift lights to warn you that it's not in gear?
I'd be all over this mod if weren't for the fact that it doesn't have the trademark multicolored //M stitching. I'm shallow like that, so I think I'll wait and see if BMW releases a special version for the M3.

The shift lights are configurable so you can set it anywhere from 1000 to 9000rpm. The stitching doesn't concern me since I already have the M3 cover. It's nice but let's face it, the wheel is freaking cool, using the G meter is very distracting. They will not release a special M3 version, at least for now since this wheel works perfectly.

How thick is it compared to the stock wheel? Thicker, or about the same? How weird does it feel going from the fabric to the leather on the same wheel if your hands slide up a bit at all?

Thickness is the same, I'd say the wheel diameter is a hair larger but unnoticable otherwise. I kind of preferred the grip of my stock wheel but it's only something to get used to, it's not bad in any way, just different.

Wow that looks really nice. Definitely would consider getting one if I had an E90/92. The one thing that would bother me, as you described, is the slightly larger diameter as I much prefer the smallest diameter wheel available. Not sure why BMW would do that for their performance wheel.

Yes, I know that but part of the wheel is Alcantara and the other half is leather, so I was wondering whether if you happened to not perfectly set your hands does it get annoying feeling both?

Saw one i person that a local dealer had installed in a 135i. I'm almost sold! Although I still wished it had the M-stitching, the performance wheel is just way too cool to pass up. Also doesn't help that I keep reading this thread.

Other than shift lights, what functions does the wheel have built in? The description on the BMW site doesn't say much. It appears to have some temp readouts, but what else?
Thanks |
