Need advise on purchasing 2006 Z4 roadster
Greetings from New Orleans!
After extensive and lengthy research I am considering joining the Z4 community by purchasing this vehicle 2006 BMW M ROADSTER VIN: 5UMBT93556LY52133 Currently located in Chicago. I test drove the vehicle this weekend and had it inspected by local authorized BMW dealership there. Carfax shows clean title with no accidents, however there are few minor issues: 1. Not original windshield 2. Left front fender appears to have at least partial, albeit small, paint work 3. Rubber gasket on top of the windshield appears to start wearing off 4. All four wheel have curb rushes and top coat peeling off (salt on snow roads?) 5. During test drive I observed minor but pronounced knock type of sound coming from rear suspension of the vehicle (West Chicago has awful road conditions after winter) 6. Minor cosmetic issues such as about 5" deep paint scratching on front left fender 7. About 5 mm left on all break pads 43K miles and 5 owners. Car has been in Chicago area since 2010. BMW Dealership has reassured me that vehicle has no known issues other than above and no know modifications. I was not present during the official inspection however. Price is right. I intend to use it as weekend vehicle and store in my garage in New Orleans. Any feedback, comments, advise are very appreciated Best regards |

Windshield replacement is pretty common if highway driven alot. Sounds like small fender bender- check paint thickness with dealers gauge to verify other damage. Make sure you dont have a cracked rear spring causing the knock at rear. Five owners is not unusual with these cars as most are put off by manic nature of gearing and engine. We love it! Make sure valve adjustment has been done as well. No mention of price -good luck.
