LED door projectors
Sitting here having some work done on the X5. Drinking copious amounts of free lattes waiting. On display they have these LED door projectors that plug into your OE door lights The project a BMW logo or anM logo on the ground when the doors are open. They run about $200 Canadian. I see there are some aftermarket ones. But they seem to be all plastic. The or ones are metall. Anyone running these

If you want the real deal, buy BMW projectors.
Incase you want to design your own LOGO (to be projected) you should buy cheap one from Amazon, as you will have to disassemble the unit. You can find videos on YouTube on how to design + fix your own LOGO I dropped my plans, projected logo is funny, but you can hardly see anything when you get out of the car in the night, as projected logo is much too dark. I prefer the bright lights when I open the door. Last edited by chumbedi; 04-28-2019 at 12:23 PM.. |

I bought two sets of them from my BMW dealer, installed once, but didn't like them, so removed. Never returned them.
EDIT: I’m removing the part I said I want to sell them. I was just offering to sell them to the OP who seems was paying too much for them. I didn’t expect to get a dozen PMs from other folks. Thanks for your interest though.

I purchased a $20 set off of amazon and I replaced the original plastic LED puddle light with plastic LED projectors with BMW logo. You can’t see the puddle light housing since they are located on the bottom of the door. I’m very pleased with the quality, ease of installation, and the ability to adjust the rotation of the image.

Two things:
(1) You basically lose puddle lights; the original lights are pretty bright and have a nice spread to them. The projector lights basically illuminate one spot. If you do the roundel, M, or X logos you get this tiny little light and nothing else. (2) They look fuzzy all the time. I like it when images are sharp. These are not sharp basically all the time. The projector lens is a fixed focus lens so depending on the terrain your car is parked on it can look deformed or ever more out of focus.

i purchased a set from a BMW set from a member for around $80 a while back. Loved them. Easiest mod I ever did - by far.
Got lots of "wows" and "dangs" from nieces and nephews, LOL. Unfortunately, I left them installed when I traded. Just order another set last night from eBay for less than $20. US seller and the product had positive feedback. We'll see. For that price it's worth the risk, LOL.
