Bay Area - winter tires

Hi

I know this is a stupid question but I trust this forum more than any Google search. I moving from Toronto to Bay Area in June. I'll be shipping my M3. Since I have movers, should I bring my winter tires as well? Will there ever be a need for them. I think the answer is no lol, but I don't want to keep them in Toronto if I know I'll be using them or there might be a need.

Thanks!

You won't need them. Here in the Bay area, winter tires are not even in our vocabulary.

Lighten the load and don't bring them. We have some really cold temperatures of 3-5C for about 2-3 hours in the early part of the morning during winter...

Don't bring jackets too. I'm in the east bay and a sweater or fleece is all you need. Especially if you are coming from actually cold temps.

Michelin PS4S are perfectly good in "Winter" here (unless you want to drive up to Tahoe), and great in Summer (especially if you go one size up)

I have used Cup 2s in Summer - but they can be a bit twitchy after a shower when the roads get greasy, and they have a tendency to aquaplane in winter since there is such poor road drainage.

Don’t bring winter tires and thick jackets. Just bring lots of money and you’ll be ok.
