Interior gloss black and wood trim swirls
With only 1000 km on our 18 X. From the dealer not only was the exterior a swirly mess but the trim on the inside was just as bad. Probably wiped down with dirty rag. Has there been any success in removing the fine scratches and swirls? And maybe a coating that can protect it?

I've used a fine automotive paint polish on my black trim as well as carbon fiber pieces.
With a little due diligence you can keep them (swirl marks) to a minimum once you polish them out. |

I literally just did this on my 2016. 39k miles and the trim, especially underneat the driver's window where the PO clearly rested his arm, is a swirly mess.
I used a buddy's Rupes Nano with CG compounds. One good pass with V36 and one pass with V38 cleaned it up nicely. Coated it with CQuartz for durability and gloss. I'll likely clean it with Reload like I do any other ceramic-coated surface. I have Oak trim but it appears to be epoxy or clear... You should be able to polish it out with any sort of swirl remover/compound/polish and coat/top it just like paint. I'd highly recommend a ceramic coating especially for anywhere that sees wear regularly. The hardness of the coating is good for preventing those ugly microscratches. |
