mixing race fuel and ethanol yourself

does any1 know if you mix 15% 91octane(ethanol free) with 85% pure e98 give you the same effect as 15% 98 octane(sunoco 260 gtx ) with 85% e98...the difference in octane is 1.5 .

15% is a small variant wether it 91 or 98 race gas mixed in with 85% ethanol.

for maximum power or safety would the actual gas matter?

I read a test done that a mix of E85 with VP MS109 (105 octane US) gave better results than just straight 91 octane with MS 109.

Here is a calculator I use.

http://www.georgebelton.com/E85Calculator.php

I run 2 gallons of VP 101 Octane (available from the pump here in Cali) with 2 gallons of E85 and it gets me to around 94 octane. E85 not only is great for its octane but its cooling properties, especially during summer months.

If you aren't running a E85 tune I wouldn't run past 3 gallons in a tank as driveability issues may ensue.

thanks for your reply Dave! do you have a tune for the added octane? what does the butt dyno say?

I got a e85 tune and want absolute performance even if I get a extra 5whp with using a high octane ethanol race gas in my 15% mixture

The gtx mix will take another .5 degree of timing vs the 91 mix
THE 260GT makes more power than gtx and gt plus is even more than the gt. The car will adapt since it uses lambda and not a/f

Would rely in the dyno for that though, just because you add more timing doesn't mean it will make more power. If peak cylinder pressure starts occurring faster than around 6 degrees atdc then it will beat the pistons and pin bores out of it.
The green e15 is really good too, it is way up there on o2 content so it runs better than what you would think.

the green e15 was an option however I wanted to keep gas mixture ethanol free. 260 gtx is the highest octane ethanol free gas I could find in my country
