What mode does everyone usually drive with?

Just a quick question regarding what mode everyone drives with their F80/F82?

I usually put mine in sport plus, and I don't know if that cause damage to the engine.

Looking forward to hearing replies

Lol, no Sport+ won't damage the engine. Why would it?!

On cold start up, I usually baby the car in efficient/comfort/comfort or E/Sport/Sport. After the engine warms up and engine oil temperature is at operating temperature (5-10 minutes), I'll use sport+ in everything.

They probably wouldn't of made the sport plus if it could damage the engine, feel free to run it.

A better question is does Sport+ cause more wear and tear on parts than efficient/comfort? Probably a negligible amount that is not enough to worry about?

Most will never keep the car long enough for this to come into question.

In order of engine, steering, suspension, transmission;DSC:

M1: Sport; comfort; comfort; D2; MDM (Euro)
M2: Sport Plus, comfort; sport; S2 MDM (Euro)

I usually start off in M1, then M2 when the engine is warmed up. If I’m on a long freeway trip, or in stop and go traffic, I put the engine in efficient. It’s amazing how much more fuel efficient it is this way.

I almost always drive in sequential mode, but I like my transmission in “D2” for my M1 button because all I have to do to switch it to S2 is tap a paddle. I like it in S2 to start for my M2 button because all I have to do to put it in S3 is tap the transmission button once. I have found S3 to be a bit too aggressive for most driving.

I don’t think you can hurt anything regardless of what settings you choose.

I like this logic, I gotta incorporate it. You are right, S3 is way too aggressive for city driving, but I switch to manual anyway. Might as well start in D/S2.

Sequential Level 3 - The DCT chooses a lower gear to start with (higher rpm). Shifting is manually done with the paddles.
MDM - M Dynamic Mode which allows for more slip before intervention. It's actually a very good system of limited traction control so you can get a little more sideways on the track than normal. It's also a bit more "unsafe" because of the massive torque these cars put out. "Driver intervention required."

I have a 6MT and most of the time I'm driving in E/S/S or S/S/S.

Never drive in S+/S+/S+, I feel like S/S/S is good enough for 6MT.

6MT here... run sport all the time... can't stand the engine braking on sport plus. Only time I ever use sport plus is at the track.
