“Full power available shortly” - normal?

My new Post-PF CP M4 says “Full engine power available shortly” on the instrument cluster on startup with the rev limit also set to 4.5k revs. My old one didn’t say this and lights started at 5/5.5k. It goes after a few seconds and the rev limit rises more quickly thereafter. I am assuming this is all normal behaviour but can someone confirm as I can’t find anything online - maybe new warm-up process for post-PF cars?

Richard.

I always use the oil temp as a gauge rather than the rev limiter lights as they tend to go out before the oil is up to temp.

Me too ... but do you get the “full power available shortly” message?

Edited my original post to be clearer ... wasn’t really fussed with the different behaviour of the lights ... it was this new message popping up that I’d not seen before and couldn’t find on t’interweb. Car seems fine now but because it threw an engine error the day I got it and had to back for a fix (which really p!ss3d me off) I’m now wanting to make sure I don’t have any lingering issues...

If this is the normal message that now comes up on startup then that’s perfect - someone put my mind at rest!?

Never seen that message on my car, but I never "floor" it when it's still cold.
Does it come up every time or just when you try to accelerate hard when it's cold?

No but mines 2.5 years old, does the message stay there when the oil is up to temp? If goes off then I guess it's a new thing for the new version of the car with the PF etc..

Never saw this once in my 14 M4 and the recent 18 M3. Both are pre PPF so this just sounds like a new thing.

Quick call to the dealer to confirm?

Yep I will give them a call - although don’t have a huge amount of faith in their knowledge

It isn’t worded like an error so am assuming it is a heating thing for the new filters - the rev limit starts much lower than my 16 M4 so assume it is related. There is no ‘bong’ either that you’d get with an warning/error just a message in main instrument cluster on right saying “full drive power available shortly” and it disappears in about 10 seconds.

I have the same message in my 2 week old (2019MY) M4. It disappears after a bit. I asked the dealership and they said they *think* it's just the new warm-up procedure.

BMW changed SO MANY things in just a different model year.

Thanks - and mine is a new MY19 too.

I also saw a post/video of a new M2C showing the same message so think it is a new ‘feature’.
