2016 at 47k or 2017 cpo at 65k

Looking at two local M4 verts:

1. 2016, 12 months left on warranty, 27k miles, exec and extended leather, dct, asking 47k

2. 2017, 30 months left on warranty, 9k miles, cpo, exec, black piano, comp pack, dct Asking 65k

Is the 2017 really worth 18k more?

I think if you want to keep the car for a long time get the 2017. If you want to have a few thrills for 1-2 years get the 2016.

The price difference IMO is warranted based on the extra 1.5 year warranty that was CPO, 1 newer model year, and mostly, the 19k mile difference. If you drive a lot and plan to drive a lot I'd probably pick the 17, if you don't put many mile, 2016.

That 2017 has a trade in value for probably 53. You can get a better deal. That 16 is probably priced right but only if they find a right buyer.

That 2017 is overpriced, imo. Id see if you can negotiate down to about ~57-58k. Otherwise I think you can find a better deal. I don’t think it’s worth 18k more.

The 2016 is a decent deal depending on how many miles you’re willing to buy the car with. You could always save that 18k difference and put a couple of thousand away instead of having the extra warranty time. These cars are solid and chances are you won’t need to use it.

For comparison, I recently bought my F83, dct, extended leather, exec package, cpo with 8.5k miles and a little less than a year on the factory warranty for ~$57. I would have liked a better deal but it was the right color and options so I think I paid a couple of grand more out of convenience as it was also local.

You paid 57k for a 2015, but you think the 2017 with same miles as yours should cost the same? Am I missing something here? This car has 30 months of warranty compared to yours, with less than 11 months and also comes with ZCP package. I agree you shouldn't pay the asking price, but .. What?

Not sure about the other guys case but the 17 ZCP is still overpriced. 57-58 would actually make sense. 80k 18's with ZCP and less than 5k miles are going for 62k. It's a really tough time to be selling the F80 so buyers can get away with really good deals.

As an owner of a 100% loaded 2015 M4 first and now a 100% loaded 2017 M4 Comp, the M4 Comp is a very better car. Going from 42k miles in a 'regular' M4 straight into the Comp (now with 38k miles)... the differences are honestly not subtle...other than the obvious ride, DCT improvements and noticeable engine bump, the upgraded NAV is very much better.. even the self park is better lol. The transmission/noise from the tunnel isn't as 'swirling gravel in a coffee can' sounding and less creaks and moans from the CF roof as my first one. In exchange, the Comp does have a distinctive 'hum' or deep 'buzzing'. My service department acknowledges it... and says its 'character' lol.

Whichever you go with... make your 'deal' and then make them throw in a free alignment.... or at least make them give you a print-out from the rack showing that all four corners are within range and nothing is showing red.

What do the tires look like? If the 2016 is on second set and they are not Pilot Super Sports... they should be. (I get about 18k miles on mine) (I tried the R71r and went back to the PSSSS)

This will be a daily driver for a 10 mile each way commute. I think the 16 is a good price, the 17 too high....but 17 is with BMW dealer, and they do not negotiate well. 16 is with fixed price local used car lot.

The 16 was 85k new; the 17 was $90,165 new. Basically for the spread I am getting comp pack, and 30 more months of warranty coverage.

The 2017 has been sold per dealer.

Any reason why the 16 isn't a CPO?

Any reason why the 16 isn't a CPO? Not being sold by dealer, plus a minor accident (repaired by dealer).

I drove the 2016 and it ran great. The sound may be piped in but its sounded great too. Seemed much faster than my old M3 (e93) and as fast as my M6.
