Squeaky Brakes
Anyone else get a high-pitched squeak from the brakes when stopping at slow speeds once the brakes get heat in them? I just had it checked out and they said the rotors were glazed so they turned them, but it still does it... now I have to go back again... aggg...

here is an article on how to bed your brakes. it should help with the problem, but prob wont eliminate it completely.
Mine still squeal from time to time and it bugs the sh*t out of me. http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm |

Nothing to worry about, they go away after the first few hundred miles.

FYI -- in my GT3 I had Pagid RS19 pads on it. They were a racing endurance pad. They were AWESOME when hot (at the track). Around town, they sounded like a garbage truck, no lie. People would look at me like WTF? Fix your brakes! LOL I doubt the M3's squeal will bug me in the slightest. I will prolly swap out the pads anyways for a more agressive one.

Mine squeal like no other. It bugs the crap out of me, but it's it's the price you pay for high performance. If you want quiet, get a Lexus.

They turned your rotors for squeaky breaks on a brand new M3??? Was that at a BMW dealership?
As others have pointed out, you need to bed in your pads, that's all. It'll go away after a few hundred miles. There was a drastic improvement with mine after the bed in at 70 miles, and at around 500 miles, it was completely gone.

That car probably had track pads on them. BMW installed track pads on the initial press cars.

There's several comments in this thread saying the squeal goes away after a while. Mine did too... but it has returned after 4500 miles.

I know how most shops "turn" a rotor, but what I want to know is how they do that same thing to a drilled rotor?
Wouldn't the holes mess it up? |

I don't see why the holes would be a problem. You just stick the rotor on a lathe and remove some material. You won't snap the cutting tool or anything as long as your feed rate is not excessive for the material. But as someone else said, I'm pretty sure BMW does not recommend turning the rotors. You need to replace them if they are worn out or defective.
