Adblue Question
Hi guys, first time for me seeing this adblue warning in the X6 today.
I have a couple of questions.... Should this have been picked up in the service at bmw? It was serviced Wednesday and warning light came up two days later? Is topping up included in the service? Second question, are all the Adblue products fine to use? There seem to be so many, varying from £10 per 10l to £20 per 10l. What the difference? Thanks in advance all. |

BMW sells OEM Adblue in 10L and 1.89L bottles.
Some people reported error messages popping up after using generic adblue instead of the OEM one. Yes it should have been picked up in the service, as the level in the tank is reported in iDrive. |

When I had my first scheduled Service for my 2017 F15 35d, even though the Adblue warning message was about 4000 miles away, the dealership (on their own) re-filled the Adblue.
Btw, it can be a mess filling it!! Last edited by deutsch100; 08-19-2018 at 08:36 PM.. |

I went to Halfords picked up their own brand 10 litres and did it myself for £20.

Whether Adblue refill is included on not in the standard service depends on the service package included when buying the car, but, nevertheless, it would have been nice to warn the owner of the requirement to refill the tank.
And the price, seriously, it's a premium brand, everybody should expect the prices in the official service network to be, well... premium. |

Ok servicing a car with BMW happy to pay extra than a back street garage as I know its going to be done professionally, but filling a reservoir with Adblue takes no professionalism.

I topped up using generic Adblue from Halfords. BMW service told me that all Adblue was the same. I did wear goggles as I didn't want to get any in my eyes. Otherwise, I was careful not to splash any in the engine compartment. I was originally going to go back to my dealer to get them to do it, but it was much cheaper and easier to do myself. It is as simple as topping up the washer bottle!

Update.... I took the car to bmw today and they apologised for not telling me that the Adblue needed topping up.
They kindly did top it up with 10l free of charge.... But said its not normally covered on any service pack. They gave me one of the 1.98l bottles for easy refilling when I do it next time 👍 |
