I don't go to places with valet parking so it's not a problem. In fact I can't even think of a place near me that does that. That's probably more a problem in NYC than elsewhere.

I try not too but some places its the only choice, on Sunday I had to and made sure I put the key fob into the key slot, he asked me were I wanted it parked and I told him in a corner but you could see his excitement when I pulled in, it was a small parking lot and he couldn't drive it anywhere so it was safe, during dinner my GF was teasing me saying "Aren't you wondering what nasty things the valets are doing with your car?", "They must be loving that (M)agic button you showed me"............I just laughed, but I'll admit it was in the back of my mind the entire time...

I've been wondering about this myself as I know it will be inevitable living in Chicago and San Fran. Besides not wanting to let a valet drive my M3, how the heck do you explain DCT to them???

I don't have my m3 yet but I'm going to end up using valet.
However most of the places I go to that require valet there are alot of high end cars like Ferraris, Lambos, etc so I think(hope) the valets will go for those first. I always check my mileage before I give my keys to a valet. I think that's a very basic rule to follow. |

Has anyone with M-DCT let a valet park their car?

my usual line: "sir/mam - this is a company owned vehicle, and our insurance only covers employees...i'd love to let you drive it, but honestly god forbid anything happened, my ass would be grass"
most will usually then just direct me where to park it myself. |

Lets just say I used to be a valet in college, although we never wrecked or crashed any cars, we did let loose and have some fun. In fact, this club at the Santa Monica airport had us swing around and park on the runway side. Access to high end vehicles with that much space means.... Anyway, no if I can avoid it, not handing over the keys to a valet.

I haven't had to valet yet, but there a few places around me that have it. I always try to park myself if it's an option. I probably don't have to worry since any of the places here with valet are parking cars far more expensive and exotic than a $70k BMW. I hate those places that you pull halfway into the parking lot for the valet service and then they force you to use it. I don't like paying someone to park my car when I'm already just about in the parking space myself.

Used to worry about it, have given up on it now. I see how friends of mine valet cars far more expensive them my M3. As stated above if it’s a place that knows you, they may leave it out front. If not, usually an extra 20 bucks to the valet and they will leave it out front. In DC or NY, it’s worth it. They do not drive your car far, nor do they try and get it into a space far too small for it.

Most places I go you have a choice between valet or parallel street park. I figure the valet will at least keep it away from the general public. And like others have said, I don't think the valets here get that excited about an M3 when you see some of the metal they get to roll in.
