Dash Cam Installation
So Amazon currently has a decent deal on:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...k_ql_qh_dp_hza I was wondering if anyone has this camera and if you guys had it hard-wired. Would this being hard-wired drain the battery?... |

I don't have that camera but I do have my dash cam hard-wired. If you drive the car regularly then there shouldn't be a problem with the battery. I sometimes get a message that the battery discharged more than normal if I park the car at like 7 P.M and don't drive it till 10 A.M the next day.

It depends on what fuse you hardwire the camera to. Anything hardwired to the battery will drain it. As speedbird19 mentioned, if you have a garage queen that you don't drive everyday, that can be a problem. You'll then need a device that will monitor your camera power and battery power to prevent any real battery drain.

My radar detector and dash camera are tapped off the power wire feeding the rear view mirror. They turn on and off with the car because i used a switched 12v wire. No battery drain.

I wish I was good enough to be able to run the wire through the trim and connect it to some harness w/ out damaging the vehicle.
I think I'm just going to pay someone to do it. How much should I be expecting for a shop to do it? |
