AW Popularity?
Is Alpine White only popular with the M3 enthusiasts on this forum? Most of the cars on here seem to be AW. I haven't seen another AW in real life though, aside from one sitting in the showroom of my local dealership. I've seen a couple of blue, a couple black, just saw a space grey this weekend, but still not another AW. Sometimes after looking at lots of pics on this site I start to think I should've gotten another color to not look like everyone else, but then I get in my car cruise around town and realize I'm the only AW M3 I've seen on the road.

I still haven't seen one in AW but plan to get it regardless of popularity. Not too caught up in being unique, but rather making myself happy.

White is popular for a reason. It looks clean, shows the body lines, and is relatively easy to care for. As far as being commonplace is concerned, the only place M3s are commonplace is on an M3 forum.

My dealer has not gotten any AW M3's in yet. and they have sold a ton, my opinion is that the blacks are actually more common.
also looking through these forums, I may be wrong but I dont find as many AW as I do other colors. well black anyway.

AW is really a very nice color, all of them are. There is no bad selection here and it is just a matter of preference. I chose SSII because it is exclusive to M cars plus it is easier to maintain and clean.

Although I am an AW owner and somewhat biased, color is a personal preference issue. It is really hard to argue as everyone has a favorite. I chose AW for the reasons mentioned above by others here. I love the car so much that I could easilly take it in another color. This is obviously the diplomatic answer. I also looked at Space Grey, but this was not offered on the E90, I read that they are replacing Sparkling Graphite with Le Mans Blue for '09, on the sedan.

A lot of the marketing materials I have seen have a white M3 (especially the M story videos). That could contribute to its popularity. About 5 years ago, I used to think that a German car should never be white as it did not look as good. Now I think white looks great on some German cars including the M3 and the 997 TT. So my liking of white is either due to the fact that the latest body shapes look better in white than they did 5 years ago or I am subconsciously following a fad (just like I followed the Titanium Silver fad when I purchase my E46 3 series).
