Buy F80 now or wait for G80 + thoughts on Carbon Pack on YMB

I put a reservation on an M3/F80 with most options ticked in Speed Yellow & Carbon pack etc. I pushed hard and got a 13% discount plus 0% PCP so was pretty happy but it was all on the basis that they would be able to get me Speed Yellow (obviously aware of end of production looming, etc.). Dealer thought he could do it but has just told me he has pushed really hard but definitely can't get Individual spec'ed cars now so no Speed Yellow... I'm in two minds as to walk away and wait for the G80 or just spec YMB (I think that would be my plan B).

My original plan had been to wait until the G80 is out and settled - so probably April 2020 (my current car would be 5 years/100k by then) - but mindful there won't be any deal to be had then I had decided if I could get exactly what I wanted now it would be worth doing as I wouldn't then be looking at a G80 until 2021/22...

Still very tempted to go ahead as the deal is very good...

Those of you who like YMB did you/would you think the Carbon Pack is worth going for? On Speed Yellow it is a no brainer if your are spending all that money but not so sure it is worth bothering on YMB???

Why isn't it worth it on YMB? I personally think the carbon/black will pop well against the light baby blue of YMB. I will personally be doing carbon on my car when I receive it. Haven't specced it from BMW for the build but I'll add it on myself later.

At the end of the day, it's personal opinion whether it will work or not.

I have YMB and the carbon pack is a must, the blue really pops against it, mines a standard M3 so I also specced all the CP trim as well as the silver bits don't look right against YMB.

I love YMB it looks different in all sorts of light conditions that pictures don't capture, it needs to be clean though doesn't look great when dirty.

At the end of the day it's all preference. Personally, I think carbon accents very well against YMB. I think it's a bit of a wait from now until the G80 releases, but if the wait is worth it to you, then stick it out. I'd opt for the YMB option though. I'm a sucker for instant gratification

As previous contributors, it's all down to personal taste. I took advantage of 0% + decent deposit contribution from Lloyds Group. Mineral grey CP due in a couple of weeks. Deal was a no brainer. I recently test drove a white CP with carbon pack and I thought it looked awful. But it's all down to personal taste. I've gone for a more classy look than sporty.

I was also in two minds on whether to keep my F30 340i the full 4 year term & wait for the G20 M340i

I wasn't too keen on the new G20, along with the rumours of xdrive & sport autos only.

Due to significant discounts & 0% APR on the F80, I thought why not get an M3 now.

Factory ordered the F80 CP manual with delivery date end of this month.

Thanks guys - I've looked at some YouTube clips on M3 CP in YMB with Carbon trimmings and I'm sold - order amended tonight. Sounds like I'm one of the last as apparently all the slots are taken so was keen to get me off suspended status! The spec is therefore now:

I'm coming from a 340i Mineral Grey with coral red leather, but the F80 I test drove was MG & Sakhir leather which did look nice though although a bit brighter than coral red

This time going for Sakhir with black leather interior.

Still a bit undecided on the carbon body kit but I think it does go with the Sakhir. Might just go for the gloss black kit instead.

Do you mean Black Pack (ZZB)? You can't spec that on a CP car as you get all those bits as part of CP...

I'm not sure if I will just get a black gloss body kit with front lip, corners, mirrors, rear diffuser & spoiler. It would match the already gloss black parts in the CP.

Probably go for that in the end.

Not too keen on the stiffer carbon lip though, as most likely will be lowering the suspension a bit. Over the speed humps the plastic lip is a fair bit flexible.

Agreed needs a bit of carbon especially the diffuser as the stock one is lame.
