19" Wheels have run out, apparently...

Apparently BMW underestimated the number of buyers who would take the 19" wheel option. Consequently, they're on back order and affecting build dates,... at least that's what my CA has told me is the reason for my build week slipping from 25 to 30!...

I've had a JzB / BB fully loaded Cabrio on order for months now, always with a scheduled build week of 25. Two weeks ago, my status changed to 1200 meaning it was about to go into production and hopefully arrive early.

Then the week before last a strange thing happened where my build week suddenly changed to 30 and my status had retracted to 1100. After lots of phone calls and hard work on the part of the dealer, I was assured it was now back on track at week 25.

So last week I left a couple of messages for my CA to confirm all was still ok, but he never returned my calls. Then on Friday, he wasn't in so I asked to speak to someone else who could at least look my order up on the computer. They did, and it showed up as week 30!!!!! Mad or what!

I phoned my CA first thing Saturday morning, but he was 'with a customer, he'll call you back at 10am'. I called again at 2pm, but he was 'with a customer, he'll definitely call you back when he's done'. I called at 4:50pm (they close at 5), but, you've guessed it he was 'with a customer, doing a new car handover (great!), I'll make sure he calls you when he's finished'.

He did call me back at about 5:20pm on Saturday, to say that yes, it had gone back to week 30, and he knew this already and had his admin girls working on it. Apparently, BMW have been surprised by the number of orders for the 19inch wheels, and there's a shortage and they're on backorder, hence my order has been delayed. But, his admin girls have managed to get it forward to week 28 (goody, really well done,... I didn't say). And it's showing as delivery to them on 23 July, which I guess will be ok in the grand scheme of things, if it really is 23 July.

So, has anyone else noticed this on their orders, or is it just Europe, just the UK, just London,... or just plain old ME

All of this at the same time when I'm reading on M3POST about US cab orders for week 25 being brought forward to week 23 and week 24. It's just not fair!

We have a road trip to the French Riviera planned for August,...it just won't be the same in a Vauxhall Zafira

the 19" rim issue has affected tons of people...you aren't the only one. it is very difficult to determine if there is a method to the madness. some seem to have no problems and others get totally bumped.

This started back in early February. My car got built (Feb. 6) just before they started delaying orders with 19s. I didn't realize it was still going on.

I thought they fix the delay problem due to the 19" wheels. Apparently, they did not. Hope mine is still on schedule, week 26, with ED date of July 5.

I just got pushed out 1 week (so far!) from 25 to 26. Considering I placed my order just over a week ago, I don't mind so much (but it better not slip again).

This 19" wheel delay affected me way back at Week 6 production...got delayed several times and finally built at Week 13.

Hang in there--they are worth it.

You will have no problem ordering the 19". From what others are experiencing, there were some delays in their production week.

My week 21 build went through without delays, in fact about a week early, with 19s on it. On the ship as we speak.

My car is scheduled to be finished TOMORROW (6/10). Wonder if it will have wheels on it? LOL I ordered the 19's as well.

UPDATE: My car is at the port awaiting a vessel...so I guess I got some of the last 19's. They are prolly the scrathced up ones they didn't put on previous cars..LOL. Could have 18" too, who knows! LOL. Owners Circle still thinks I am getting wood trim and all this extra crap I did not order....so it wouldn't surprise me if it was all phucked up. ha

I already played this stupid 19inch rim game, and the extended leather game, along with the DCT delay game, Last time my production was 14 April and they waited two days before production to tell me I got

back all the way back to 16 June WK 25

This Sh*t gets old after a while and this time they better not do it again. I am 1 week out again and you all are talking this dumb

19 inch rim delay again. Well this time they can give me their 18 inch

rims and I will sell them just to get those ugly things out of my site to keep from reminding me how I got screwed over and put on one of the two sets of 20 inch rims I already have and bought for the car. Once I finally get this car I am done with BMW for good

they can stick it

did your CA admit to the 19 shortage or is it the DCT.

Not exactly a good strategy for getting your order bumped up. Switch to 18's and order some nice forged aftermarket wheels.

I know you're only 17, but grow up man. Yelling at the poor guy on the BMW status line isn't going to help. It's unfortunate BMW has some supply issues, but you're going to have to deal with it

you may need to do a little more growing up before you are handed the keys to a 70k dollar automobile anyway after reading some of your comments.

I'm actually only 18 but I've worked for my parents (full time) for about a year now. I'm paying 50k and their paying the rest. I'm in real estate for anyone that cares or might ask.

Well a slight improvement,... I spoke to BMW UK Customer Services earlier, who have made a few calls and just come back to me to say they've managed to bring my order forward a further week, it's now scheduled for Week 27 build. Not quite the week 25 that I was hoping for, but if it really is made in week 27, then I can at least hope to have the car by mid/end July. I'll be happy with that.
