Any difference between MY17 and MY18?

Hey guys, were there any changes between the 2017 and 2018 X6M?

I was trying to find an X6M I could rent for a month or two, but that search seems to have come up empty so I think I'm going to lease a new one and then put it up on SwapALease after a couple of months -- they seem to move quick on there as the three X6Ms I inquired about on there were acquired by someone else by the time I reached out.

Asking about the 2017 to 2018 changes because I can lease a brand new 2017 model for $80/month less than a 2018 model. I guess BMW is offering an additional incentive on MY17 models to get them off the lots. Other considerations:

The 2018 model is blue. The 2017 model is white.
White is probably more universally appealing than blue (equaling more interested parties to assume the lease).
2018 would probably be more appealing than a 2017 for someone assuming the lease.
However, blue is probably going to catch a police officer's eye more than white would.
The 2017 model is $80/month less on the lease.
Both have a black interior and are spec'd the same.

So there's pros and cons to both here, before knowing if there's any difference between the MY17 and MY18.

iDrive 6 native vs needing to update from iDrive 5.

If the MY17 is still on the dealer lot, couldn't I just ask the dealer to update to iDrive 6 before I pick it up?

If you are going to swap it in 2 months I guess $160 bucks don't really matter. Get the 2018, enjoy it for the 2 months you need it and have fun. It may be more attractive to the potential new owners if it is MY2018.

I assume the 'blue' is Long Beach Blue? Great color (I have on my F85). Just get yourself a V1.

Sorry renting for 2 months didn't work out.

Why do you need this car for only 2 months?

Dealers don't update this.

It's done through aftermarket coding.

I did this on my M3 from iD5 to iD6.

X5M came with iD6.

Indeed great color.

A V1 won't help me historically speaking. I never get radar tickets. My last 3 speeding tickets have all been VISUAL ESTIMATION. The biggest horsecrap there is, but if the officer says I was going 100mph while I was parked at Burger King, I guess I was going 100mph. At least in California, speeding tickets are avoidable if you drive fast because they don't have to use radar and can just say they saw you going whatever speed they want to invent and write on the ticket.

2 months because I don't plan on being stateside too long. I spend a lot of time outside the country.

find one on leasetrader that is two months out and assume the lease... in same cases the individual will pay you or give you money towards the payments to get out of the vehicle.

None less than 12 months. Cannot transfer a lease with less than 6 months remaining anyway, per BMW FS.

Yup.

iD4 to iD5 is hardware however.

How about save yourself 10k and lease something when you get back?

Interesting sunroof. X5 was the only one left with the rear lifting portion . I wonder why are they deleting this option?

Primary cause of failure and expensive cassette replacement was caused by the rear part getting stuck.

Maybe work out a deal to get someone's Turo for a couple months.

I didn't think BMW FS could transfer the lease after only 2 months?

Wonder if you could hand the dealer a pile of cash and they'd figure out a way to put it in their fleet or something - an extended test drive of sorts
