If they do change the M3's lights to LED, will there be much differences?

If they do change the M3's lights to LED, will there be much differences to the lights the M3 has got now? Maybe brighter? Or it will be hard to tell?

Just take a look at the difference between pre/post-2003.5 E46 ///M3's. The LED's were a bit more attractive and a bit brighter.

I think the 5 series swtched to LED's in 08. I could be wrong but whatever they did looks sick and I stare at them everytime I see them. Takes my attention away from the rest of the car

Has it been confirmed that the 09 E92 will come with full LED tails? Or is this just assumption?

Not a chance. E90 = maybe/likely/probably.

Man...I am thinking about buying an 09 E92, but it will suck if they make changes to it in 2010. Anyone know what are the percentages of BMW making changes to their new M3? Anyone got pictures of LED and no LED of the same car?

How do you know they will fit (OEM). My z4 got aupdated taillights in 06. Yhey can't be retrofited due to the minor tweaks made to the adjacent body panels to acomadate the new taillight shape (usally a nimor change)

Wait for the 10, the more people do, the lower the demand and therfore a bigger discount for me.

No- in all seriousness, If you wait for the 10, then the 11 will be better due to further tweaks. If anything wait a few more months and get the 09.

The likelihood that BMW will change the M3 in 2010 is... 100%
The likelihood that BMW will change the M3 after you buy one, regardless of when you buy, is...100%
The likelihood that this trend will ever change is... 0%.

If you think like that...you will always wait for the newer/better one!
So unless, you have your whole life to wait (and still not get an M3) then do it!
But you cant always have the newest one, (unless you can or will change your car on a yearly basis)

Its like trying to stay on top of computers, you buy a new incredible computer. but 6 months later, its kinda old and theres already way better.

You just cant win man!
BUY THE M!

I doubt I will ever buy a first year BMW model. It's not like I'm not driving a BMW right now while I wait it out anyways. I don't feel the need to have something new as soon as it comes to market. I feel more comfortable waiting a bit as they sort out minor issues that I would rather avoid if possible. I'm not waiting for any specific changes to occur, just waiting for some time to pass. I do enjoy reading about the early owners and the fun they are already having in the meantime.

It's all about being the cool kid on the block with the newest stuff, right? gotta have it first... ha ha. Normally I'm with ya and would never buy in the first year, but the timing of this one just worked out that I needed to off load the E46 and the E92 was next up. We'll see how it goes, got my fingers crossed it doesn't spend too much time in the shop! That's the beauty of a factory warranty and service plan, at least I won't be paying $$ for any problems...

Just like computers.

You can think of LEDs as a safety upgrade. They reach full brightness much faster than incandescent bulbs. This gives the guy behind you a bit more time to react since in theory it will catch his attention sooner. To me they also look brighter, but I don't know if that's really true. And they look cool too.

Randy,

You are on your game. Ha, patience is indeed a virtue but virtue can be so maddening. I think the most important change coming next year is the revamped Idrive. BMW is finally listening, it took how many decades? I believe they even came up with a new fancy smantzy name. I would never buy Idrive in it's current form and I would probably avoid the new version as well. I think having navigation hurts resale because within a few years the systems appear archaic with the seemingly monthly tech improvements.

It's year 2008 and its mind boggling how the new M3 doesn't come equipped wth LED brake and signal lights. It's like they went a step backwards from the 2003.5 E46 which is riduculous. A car with this stature should have the latest and greatest. Even Honda Civic's come with LED brake lights. I will wait, espeically for the new revamped I-Drive too.
