Anyone here drive the M2 recently?
So, this past weekend, my love affair with the M2, which I've had for just about a year and 4,300 miles took a turn for the worse.
I needed to put two adults in the back seat (short trip, but still, they bitched up a storm). I had to borrow a car because I needed to transport four teenagers to a party. I drove a whole bunch (suspension really started to get to me) and yes, the damn dead spot in the center of the steering wheel and the rev match have me at my wits end (ok the dead spot is really noticeable with the snows on). So I'm thinking about a M3 with the 19s thinking the adjustable suspension HAS to be better, the rear seat is easier to get into, I can transport more people and the trunk surely has to be bigger (costco trips are scary). Oh and I miss having a sunroof. Questions 1. Anyone test drive the M2 recently? Comparisons? While I think the M2 is more focused, I think I'm looking for a more luxurious ride (and I mean ride in terms of having SOME suspension travel ) 2. The individual interiors - do they come with the leather dash? 3. Anyone know if my snows will fit? I think they are the same OEM setup as yours but with slightly narrower tires. Wait - I'm getting the competition package, not sure if that changes anything. 4. Does the M3 have the same rev match as the M2 (manual). I'm going to drive one tomorrow - but it will have the 666 style wheels and I am NOT planning on getting those here in Chicago. TIA!

You probably don’t want to hear this, but maybe you should try the M550i? The M3 is not really a luxe ride and the interior is better, but there’s still a good bit of plastics.

I own both (M4) and you WILL notice a difference in the interior and in the way they handle. The winter setup should work as long as you don't get CCB on the M3.

Full leather gets you leather dash if you can pick from available colors without going to individual.
It is difficult to find a car with great driving dynamics, luxury / comfort and space. To some degree those things are mutually exclusive. M3/4 will have more space and luxury features available than an M2, but don't expect it to be anything like a car with a primary mission to deliver luxury / comfort at the expense of performance driving.

I test drove a buddies M2 a good bit when I sold my M4. In the end I decided the e92 was superior as its just as fast, sounds better, looks better, and has much better feel. Not saying you should buy an e92 just saying Im not at all impressed with the M2.

Sounds like your life is too busy. An SUV is probably in order. Having said that you will find an M3 much more to your needs than the M2.
Good luck! |

I will keep the M2 and buy small inexpensive suv or sedan.
Many people will disagree with me but I believe M2 will hold better value than M3/M4 in the future. I have M4 right now but I really wanna add M2 in my garage. M2 is very unique, don't sell it. |

Thanks all
It is a bummer the mods moved this to a different forum - I was hoping to get answers to the questions. To be clear, I don't want a big car again - had a X6 and then a 650GC - way way too big. The M2 is great - it really is - but the lack of an adjustable suspension and the issue with the number of doors (as my rear seat passenger said "Lots of room once you are back here") It is a bummer about the rev match in the M3 - I suspect they are doing that to save clutch wear and tear - which is weird since it is not covered by maintenance anymore. From what I can tell on the configurator - the leather dash appears with the individual color - it is just in black. And I'm not looking for a luxury ride (the 550 is way too big and the steering is lifeless) - I'm just looking for a bit of suspension travel. The M2 doesn't ride bad - until you hit the bumps - it is not harsh, just not compliant - meaning, the suspension feels like it goes up an inch and then that is all she wrote - its uncomfortable. I don't see any of those suspension challenges in my 1M.
