Is it possible to turn off the cold temperature warning?
How can I shut OFF the outside cold temperature warning?
When the temperature hovers around 37 degrees the warning keeps going off every time it goes between 38 and 37!!! I ran through the idrive but couldn't find a solution. Thanks.

Ha! This is mostly true.
But I work up at Camp Pendleton, and when I'm driving through the mountains in the morning it consistently has been wavering at 37-38 degrees and the damn warning goes off every time it dips below!! Not the end of the world, but I just figured I'd ask the forum if there was an easy fix. 1st world problems... |

Of all the nannys BMW's have, that I hate, this is a feature I actually like. In New England, its common to have wide temp swings, and when the temp dumps, nice to have a heads up that the temp is heading down.

One would think the traction control light blinking away at the slightest hint of throttle would give it away

You can program off seatbelt warning so I imagine that there is a setting in there somewhere for the temp warning. I don't know what it would be.

Last weekend it was around 3 degrees celsius. Our warning went off five different times on a 20 minute drive. Super annoying feature that i have dealt with here for years.

Temps below 37 is usually right when summer rubber becomes super hard and seriously loses grip. It's also when the road surface typically freezes with the smallest precip on the roads.
On a high level its a warning that your car will not perform like it usually does when the temps are warm and its time to slow down a little. It's one of the few warning I actually appreciate and I would never code that out. People have 0 common sense in general, hopefully they are putting 2 and 2 together and realizing why the warning is there in the first place. |

People underestimate the affect that temperatures play on tires. I did a BMW sponsored autocross event where morning ambient air temperatures where in the low 30F range. Course took less than 60 seconds to complete, but I drove an M3 with standard 19" performance tires through the course first and then a 540i with all season tires; beat my M3 time by nearly 6 seconds; by mid day, temps were up into the low 50F range and I was beating the my best time in the 540i consistently by 3 seconds in the M3.

They seem to have changed the behavior of this warning from E9x to F8x. I went for a drive yesterday evening and the temperature dropped below 3 degrees Celsius, so the chime went off. However, the temperature went up and down several times after that but it did not chime again.
So, in the E9x it seems that there is at most one cold warning chime per trip..looks like they went further for the F8x, though I can't see the point. |

Well, roads don't freeze at 37* considering thats 5* above the freezing point of water. I always hated the warning. As if I dont realize its fucking cold as shit outside.

Black ice can form a few degrees above freezing. That's the reason why the warning is placed at 37 degrees.

Don't mind the warning at all, like the information. It has been on every BMW I ever owned. I didn't like it, however, when I saw it on the dash of my R1200RT, but that's a different story!
