135i rims for winter

Going with a friend to pick up his new M3 (non ZCP). He's convinced that his winter setup from his 135i will work (18" rims)

Anyone have direct experience with using E87 wheels? I don't think it's going to work, especially without spacers.

I don't, but I had 335i 18's with snows on the first year I had my M3 and they wouldn't fit. I want to say they were the style 189's. I would find it hard to believe one BMW style 18" wouldn't work but another would. Though I did buy a set of 18" BBS SR's that do fit. The brake pad tab machined a small groove in the barrel but it isn't bad.
