Winter tires - Raleigh, NC
So hopefully picking up the car in the next week or so.
Just in time for the cooler temps to arrive. If you're not familiar with the area, it's usually quite nice, with maybe a handful of snow/ice events a year. So I'm wondering, if I'm just driving a few miles, literally like 3 maybe, does it matter if it's 38 degrees if I'm not getting the car our of 3rd gear, and just rolling through the neighborhood? Assuming, yes it matters, and yes I'm an idiot if I don't put on appropriate shoes...any recommendations for tires? |

On dry pavement you’ll probably be ok, but take it easy because the summer tires will be hard (think hockey puck) and have low grip.
On wet pavement or snow./ice, don’t drive it on the summer tires. Again, think hockey puck, but now on ice. A set of wheels with winter tires, or a switch to all seasons would be good options. The former is more better, the latter is easier since you don’t have to switch each spring/fall. |
