Winter questions--RFT?? Size??

anyone do run flats for winter? they're heavier and TireRack chat says they don't perform as well except without air (obviously)

also, recommended size is 255/40R18 with 245/45R18 as option.
thoughts?

snow around here gets cleared pretty quickly, unless a massive blizzard, in which case I'd probably Uber to work (thought about it and it's cheaper to Uber several times than buy a winter car--and don't think wife would be thrilled if I said I needed a winter car either)

I noticed on a comparison that tires have different rotations per mile. does this affect speedometer or odometer??

just saw a comment that Pirelli doesn't make good winter tires, yet they get high ratings on TireRack. Had them for 435, before that Blizzaks for 335.
