I ran the sottozero 2 for a month and replaced them with a set of blizzaks. If you are looking at a performance winter check out the Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60 or LM001; additionally the Michelin offerings are pretty good. If you deal with real winter driving, deep snow etc check out the Nokian Hakka series. I run Nokian hakka 8 studded on my M3 and they are without a doubt the best winter tires I've put on a vehicle. Overkill infact. |

Nokian: https://www.nokiantires.com/winter-t...kapeliitta-r2/
Simply the best I’ve used, however, for the M4, unfortunately, not available. Sottozero’s are sold out in the USA. I have fitted the Michelin Alpin PA4’s as those were the only Winter Tires available in the USA at this time. |

Or pilot alpine 4 stock 255/35/19 and I guess I could size up to 285/35/19 rear if that would work. |

I just had LM-32 installed yesterday. Bought from Discount Tire and had them installed at home by a mobile tech.

I'll just offer my experience, I'm on the wetcoast so probably no where near as snow heavy as other regions. I mainly drive in the city.
I had the a set of new Blizzak LM-60 on my E92, was ok still felt a bit slippery in the cold and wet, mind you for the 3-4 seasons I had them on it never snowed once. I just put on a set of Sottozero 2's on the F80 last season and we saw about 1-2 inches of snow on the ground. I had a blast with them in the cold, slush, snow and was very confidence inspiring. |

Some of the Tire Vendors will show a tire in stock, but when you go to order it - good luck! I am speaking specifically to 20's for the 666 wheel. Definitely no Sottozero's available in the 20's and backordered for 90+ days. Nokian is coming to the USA, they are building a factory in the Southeast. I mention this as I have had extensive experience with Winter Tires, and have used Blizzak, Pirelli Scorpion Snow and Ice, Dunlop and Nokian. The Nokian's (currently built in Finland) for me, were the most incredible Winter Tire. The grip is ludicrous, and they last a long, long time. The Dunlop's are also very, very good, had these fitted to my wife's Audi A7 (which came with 20's), and it was like driving on rails. The Pirelli Scorpion was next with the Blizzak coming in last - simply not a great tire IMHO. I get about 6 months of snow with many days below freezing and cumulatively about 600 inches of snow per season - so I've had the benefit of testing these tires over a long period of time. Technology does not rest, so one observation I have is that Winter Tires have improved substantially over the last 10 years. If you have a 19 inch wheel perhaps try the Dunlop's if a Hakka R2 is not available - I decided to stick with the 666 20 inch wheel for this Winter, so tire choices are somewhat limited, in addition, tire manufacturers tend not to build high volumes of 20 inch Winter Performance Tires due to limited demand, so these tires go on backorder pretty quickly - FYI
