Pilot Sport Cup 2 vs Pilot Super Sport, in ZCP M4

Looking for a way to improve dry road grip and wondering if the pilot sport cup 2, 245x30x20 front and 285x30x20 rears would be an improvement over the stock 265x30x20 front and 285x30x20 rears.... The 245's would fit on a 9" rim but they are narrower... Anyone done this?

Yeah it's annoying the PSC2s don't come in stock sizes. I'm going to need to get a set of 19s or the staggered 19/20 of the CS setup.

Put 265 Fronts with 305 rears wouldnt that be better for traction?

My initial goal was to keep the stock, 666, 20" wheels... But the more I think about it, I think 19" front 20" rear, AKA the msport/CS setup may be the way to go, along with steering/EDC software updates...

Take a look at the PS4S'. I just put a set on and so far very impressed. Review to come later.....

It's all a question of compromise. The PSC2 will offer better dry characteristics (including grip and response), however this is at the detriment of wet capability and wear. It all depends what you favor.

The fact that their isn't a good 20" PSC2 size available for the front 666M limits the option of using this tire on a ZCP. The newer PS4S might offer the better overall compromise IMO.

I live in SoCal, and have been running psc2s for over a year. It doesn?t rain much, but I haven?t had problems the few times it did. As for dry grip, there is zero comparison. PSC2s are the bees knees.

Yes, the 305 tires would be great for rear traction (and that is a problem) but the 305's would mean that I need a wider rear rim; I'm trying to keep the 666 20's plus, handling is one of the main things I'd like a bit more of and the PSC2's seem to be the 'bees knees' as someone commented below. Putting 245's on the front, even PSC2's seems like a step back just based on contact patch area but I'm really not sure how detrimental the smaller 'patch' would be.... or even if the actual rubber contact area is actually smaller given the tread pattern vs the PSS pattern... come to think of it, if I run 19's I'll end up with the same tire, just smaller diameter...
Probably will go wuth 19's on the front and 20's on the back 'a la' CS...

Can you fit a 295 on the stock 666 20's? Is that the best option for traction? These stock tires spin through the first 3-4 gears with a tune. I wish we had better options for traction

The M5 uses a 295 on it's 10x 20 inch rim, apparently a 'BMW recommended' tire for that car, but I think, normally, a 285 is the max size...

The M5's 295/30R20(*) PSS is a perfect fit for the 666M rear wheel since it was specifically designed as a rear tire for 10" wide wheel.

Agreed. I put these on and they are way better and better grip for everyday driving compared to the Continentals that came with the car although slightly noisier. Weren't too shabby on the track either.

I've been running PSC2 on my M4 for almost two years. Wet performance is surprisingly good. I've driven in light to heavy rain and their resistance to hydroplaning isn't really that much worse than PSS. Also, PSC2s have good cold grip if temps are > 60 F. Tire wear has been very good - I'm running -2.5 deg camber and zero toe on the F and I'm getting even wear across the tire. The harder inner tread compound results in good tire wear and wet/cold performance, and the softer outer tread compound generates awesome grip.

On 666m wheels? What size are you running?

Also curious about your rim size because my original post was about running 245/30/20 cups on the front in place of the 265 pss... I.e., keep the 666's and trade off the width on the front with the pss for grip with the cups....
Are you running the 666 with the cups?
