its a bunch of bullshit, in california you'll still see dealers mark up on the cars in the lots but usually you can negotiate or order one yourself which will be msrp or below.

Not that many dealers are selling over sticker. In Cali they did for the first one or so months ago. Look on Ebay.. There are dealers looking to dump inventory. I don't they are selling stock to well. My dealer has had a 4 door for ever. All the M fans special ordered theres I think.
Sticker is pretty standard. My dealer gave me more money on my 5 series to help becasue they said they could not give me anything off the sticker. |

its BS - they may show a mark up but they are NOT selling for mark up - they are selling for MSRP or less.

If you are really interested in buying an m3 just start calling all the local dealerships and ask for discounts. I know Rusnak BMW in Thousand Oaks (Southern California) will do 1-2K under MSRP. Just tell prospective dealerships you already have a deal for 1K under and want to see if they'll go any lower.
Market sucks. Gas prices suck and will probably rise before they plateau. A few members have posted receiving discounts on both e90 and e92. |

I just bought mine in Newport (Sterling) I am not a master negotiator by any means and I paid MSRP. Keep in mind Sterling is on PCH. Originally when they came out in March there was a huge markup. The problem is were in a recession and nobody is buying cars. Car sales are down over 20% across the board. If the M3 came out 2 years ago they could get away with that markup but when these M3's with 20k markup were sitting on the lot being looked at but not bought they suddenly realized that there was not a gigantic demand for these cars like they thought there would be. This is for 6mt M3's. The M-DCT market might be much different.

yah this is what dealers do they always "try" to get some money, u say no this is BS they'll give u a deal, but as long as there's people who say yes, they will still put that markup on the cars.
when i was shopping for a 350z the car i found was 32k, he gave me numbers for lease in 3 years that totaled 36k im like "i look stupid, dont i??" |

Which dealership? What's a healthy discount? At BMW of SD their willing to go $500 below MSRP. I know I can get around $1000 or more under by playing a little hardball. Market sucks, gas prices are way up, other competitors on the market (C63 AMG, Z06, GTR on the way soon). This whole markup thing is bullshit! Let some yuppie wanker pay that and move on to a reasonable dealership.

there are two dealers i know of in n. cal who are not marking up m3s at all, one of which was notorious for doing so a while back
im pretty sure you could score a deal. What would the dealer rather do? make a sale or lose a customer? The key to successful negotiation is to know what you want. I have found that if you are firm and reasonable about your requests, things will generally work out being that a dealer doesnt wanna lose a sale. Go at the end of the month and theyll be begging you to take the keys |

It's hit or miss. My dealer listed a brand new E93 M3 6MT on Craigs List about a week ago with NO markup. It all depends on your region. Calling around (or surfing Craig's List or eBay) will yield deals.
