Noticeable Difference 265/285 Tires

I just upgraded my Bridgestone RE-71R from 255/35 and 275/35 R19's (on stock 437M 19" wheels) to 265/35 and 285/35 on same wheels.

Not sure if it is all attributed to the fact the tires are bigger, newer, both, and/or other factors, but traction from a stop with 80%+ throttle seems to be significantly improved. Has anyone else noticed such a marked improvement in off-the-line traction by just going up one tire size front to rear?

After doing some further research - I wonder if my old tires (255/35 and 275/35 R19) were just heat-cycled out - as I DD them and had 3.5 track days with them (probably 10,000-11,000 street miles on them).

I've seen some people claim that as great as the RE-71R is out of the box - some seem to think that once they've worn down quite a bit that they just don't grip as well anymore. I'm starting to think that is possibly more part of the far greater grip on brand new tires (265/35 and 285/35) vs last setup with 10-12k mikes and 3.5 track sessions (255/35 275/35)...

I'd probably say a combo of the two factors is what you're feeling.

295 rears for me on stock 19" s and the car is on another level. It is something I should have done long ago. I've noticed a bit more understeer.

I have re-11's 265/85.

Would never go back to stock. Big difference.
