Current E70 M Owner, Considering F85 M
Hello All! I am currently an owner of the 2010 X5M. While I love the car, I am looking to move into the new F85 X5M. What are the common issues to look out for? I know that there are a lot of commonalities especially with the S63 engine as with the previous version but with some changes.
With the E70 M, I am aware of the common issues with the Fuel Injectors, Vent valve pipes, fuel pump, driveshaft, and airbag. Do these issues still apply to the F85 M? What other issues should I look out for while to slowly start my search for the used model? Thanks in advance. Last edited by hsc1102; 06-29-2017 at 01:23 PM.. |

The current is X5M is the F85 , not F15M ;-)
Many of us have the wheel bearing issue ... In my case , I had it at the beginning , and it has disappeared by itself. -Squeaky brakes is also a very common issue. -Cold start issue. You should check out on the forum , there are many posts about those issues. My car is now 77000 km , and I'm enjoying it every single day ! |

I've had 2 of the common issues of rough cold start (turns out to be normal and the car meaning to do this) and squeaky brakes (goes away when they're warm)
In the grand scheme of things dealing with these are well worth it to be able to drive the beast IMO! |

You may want to take into consideration that the next gen X5 is due out in around 1 year, with the M version in 2019 as a 2020 model.
Other than that since previously owning an E71 X6 and an F15 X5, the F85/86 are just ridiculously good. A few minor issues here and there (A/C mainly, brake noise) but nothing that would scare you.
