E90 vs E92 vs E93 insurance costs

Which one is cheapest?

Can you guys post -

Monthly rate
Age
Vehicle year
Crash/ticket history
Miles per year
Area

I'm almost 18 and saving up, it will be hard so saving as much as I can will help. I want the best insurance rate even if it's getting the body style I don't prefer.

Body style doesn't mean as much as suppose to years of driving experience and points...also location makes a huge difference. Also coverages changes things considerably, along with miles driven a year. So basically everyone is different.

$120
Full coverage 100k/300k
35
2008 E93 6Spd
10k miles a year
Clean record
Allstate

Go run quotes with different body style, same everything else. You'll see that the changes likely aren't big. Your age, zip code, driving history, years insured, and currently insured status will weigh more heavily against you

Body style won't matter.

Btw this isn't the way to shop for any car, especially an M3. They're all so different...

Call your agent and ask for the rates, e.g. "can you quote me the rate for a (year) BMW M3 (body style)".

There are countless factors that will affect it: age, multi-policy discount, zipcode, annual mileage, past claims, gender, etc. Also, every insurance company calculates their rates differently and the rates can change throughout the year.

These threads are pointless because there are literally thousands of possible rates for the same car. Seeing what other people pay has nothing to do with what YOU will pay, which you can only find out by calling your agent (or going to the website and filling out the quote form). If you are on a budget, tell your agent and ask what you can do to stay under that price.

when my insurer initially ran my quote, they accidentally entered it as the e92. When I corrected them to the e93 body style, my quote dropped by $12/month. I'm in LA, 5,000 miles a year, 2011 e93 M3 w/ 46k miles. $148/month

There certainly is a price difference depending on the body style. When I had my e93 I was paying ~$800 for 6 months but when I switched to the e92, it jumped to ~$1000. They couldn't tell me why, even though I argued it's the exact same car. However, I do believe they factor in hp per weight of the car and that is why my rate went up. So while e90 to e92 might be same, e93 technically is cheapest to insure out of the 3.

But would I go back to a e93 just to save a little on insurance? Hell no!

I'm almost 18 too...but you have to ask yourself, why get a M3 when you can get a car with serious HP? These e9x cars are so passe...better to get a Vette, Chevy Camero, or Charger with way more power for less $$$
As for the query about which is cheaper, it breaks down this way:
e90 is the cheapest because you understand it's superior to the others
e92 is more expensive because you should've bought an e90
e93 is most expensive because well, how much time do you have for me to list all the reasons?

Just read you're going to be 18. Get ready to pay through the roof. I would buy a high mileage 08 and just do liability on the insurance. Body style won't matter for you, any of them is going to cost you $$$$.

Better yet just get yourself a 335. Still a great car and won't cost you nearly as much.

Damn you guys have cheap insurance! I have Geico. My car is insured in southern cali where im from (my parents address) i live in nashville and cant insure it there because it would be over $600 a month. I currently pay $305 a month. 22... totalled out my old Audi s4 crashing into a benz in a parking lot going 10 mph lol (legit the dumbest incident ever) . So if you are young and have anything on your record the M3 is not the car for you haha but i do love it.

A high mileage 08 or 09 is the plan, also doing my own maintenance and only driving it a certain amount of miles per year. As long as I can keep the insurance somewhat reasonable, I won't have to go 335
