Boost Power Steering Assist?

[Prepares for ridicule...]

Is there any way to adjust/boost the power steering assist on an E82? I don't want it to feel totally flaccid or anything, but damn is it tough to make quick steering adjustments in this car.

Stock wheels/tires btw.

This is probably the best fix for heavy steering :P

It doesn't feel too heavy to me. Just about right. Maybe I'm used to it. Been driving a 1er since 2008. My first one then this one.

Probably just takes some getting used to. It's really only an issue at low speeds.

Yeah, just give it some time. You'll get used to it. Or drive faster!

How do you steer? Where do you hold the steering wheel?

Granted, it's on the heavier side compared to newer non-M BMW, but even my mother has never complained about it. Shit's real heavy when power steering is not working, though. You sure it's OK?

Maybe you should check the level of power steering fluid.

Are your tires aired up? Power steering fluid topped off?

Are you used to driving overboosted electric power steering cars and now you're driving with a real rack?

I guarantee this is is it - whenever I drive my SO's Mazda and get back in my car, the first things that stand out are the steering and brakes. Steering is much heavier, and brakes are much stronger. I find it to be confidence-inspiring though, as if I'm actually turning a several-thousand-pound vehicle and not a playing with a toy or video game controller.
