Question Adaptive headlight warning, then nothing?

Today on my drive to work I got an adaptive headlight warning. I got to work and parked the car facing a wall, turned it off and on again and both headlights dipped and did their little "ready dance". The warning also went away.

I got out of the car and looked closely at both housings, zero moisture. Any thoughts as to what could have caused the warning? Is it common for the warning to come and go?

I had that the other morning for the passenger side cornering light. Got to work and everything seemed normal. Haven't seen the warning again.

My dad's E90 has an intermittent AHL warning, it comes on when he hits a pothole etc. Something is loose, but it works most of the time. Probably something similar for you.

Had the issue when I put in my Lux initially. Had the black box in the wrong spot and the HL couldn't move fully. Adjusted and fastened them and 100%. If you did not do any mods or anything and they randomly came on then if they come back on again, check out the housings, but if its gone... don't worry about it.

That could totally be it then, I have LED's in mine as well. How did you fasten them? Mine are all "heat-sinked" and I was afraid to attach them to anything.

You can get any two sided Velcro fastener or just get some high temp electrical tape and just make sure it is below the adaptive headlight. When you take off the housing lid you can see which headlight is the adaptive, it will wiggle a bit. Just make sure the box isn't anywhere near it, and the wires aren't choking the light either.

Great info thanks! I'll have to get in there and clean that up ASAP.

Thanks! The wheels are actually Avant Garde M310's but they're very similar to the v710's, I love this style on these cars, they're the best suited for the look IMO.

Yeah absolutely. Those are the M310's right? I think the VMR V710 and M410's are perfect for the E82.

+1 on checking the LED angel eye install. I had a similar issue on my LUX install. I thought I had mis-seated the seal on the rear cover and water had gotten in the housing. Re-positioned the box and re-seated the connectors and rear cover. Issue hasn't come back since (almost two years now).
