Blank dash plug

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has taken off the blank dash board panel underneath the radio? I have a 2012 135i with a standard radio setup, no
iDrive. I'm wondering if it's easy to take off so I can use that as a hiding place... and no not for anything questionable...

I think the CD holder takes up most of the space back there, but you could look for pics of the dash taken apart and see if there's anything visible for storage space

Well my radio sys only has one cd at a time. So that's why I think that space is empty. Do you know of any pictures that show that area?

I've seen some, but don't know where they are off the top of my head. Do some digging in the DIY section, and google. I'm sure you'll be able to find something useful. Or you could get to wrenching and find out first-hand.

I think you need to remove the radio first. Not a bad job:

If you have iDrive/Nav, then there is no space underneath. I thought there would be too when I was installing the Bimmertech backup camera retrofit. To my surprise, the CIC hardware which includes the radio/stereo extends down into this supposedly empty space.

You can see pics of what I'm talking about in my how to thread on installing the Bimmertech system:
