135I ABS preventive maintenance
New to the forum but not new to owning a BMW.
I recently purchased a used 2011 135i Convertible with 63K miles. Well my ABS, Brakes and service engine soon came on. I attached a code reader and it was P15C8 Rear left Open Circuit. After reviewing a lot of 1 Addicts post, I think its the rear left speed sensor that is old or dirty. So here is my question. Has any addicts clean their ABS sensor as their preventive maintenance? Thanks for your post in advance. |

rarely does a dirty sensor cause issues. They're immune to dirt since they use a magnetic field to detect the axle rotation. They would only be affected by something ferrous (iron or steel particles) with heavy buildup. Just buy a new OEM sensor. Do NOT buy anything but OEM or Genuine BMW.

Got it thank you for your feedback. I did try to clean the sensor after work but it wasn't successful. I guess I will be calling the dealer tomorrow For the part..

I like to share my lesson learned from my ABS warning light issues with other new 1Addicts.
I was driving around in my 135i enjoying the ride and bam my dash board light up like charismas tree! My first reaction was OMG..... F$%#!!!! Well after freaking out for a while I drove back home and I started googling about ABS/BMW. There were some useful leads and then I found what I was looking for. So here is what I like to share with all the addicts if you are having issue with your ABS and your dash board is light up like a charismas tree with "ABS, Brakes, service engine soon light". First, get your code reader and find out what side ABS is having issue. (Hopefully just one side) My 135i with 63K miles had a code P15C8 (rear left open circuit) your "wheel speed sensor" for normal people. I went in to RealOEM.com and found my part number 34526870077 (rear left or right speed sensor) and ordered it through BMW parts department. While waiting for the new part, I took out the old sensor and cleaned it to see if this will make the warning lights disappear. Cleaning the sensor does not do anything to help make the warning lights disappear. After receiving my new sensor from BMW parts, it took me about 30Min to put the new part on and as soon as I started driving my 135i the ABS, Brake, DTC warning lights disappeared!!! However, my service engine soon light still was on my dash board. I was deflated again but after driving around for mile or so the service light also vanished. Victory!!!! Hope this experience helps other 1Addicts who has problem with your ABS/DTC sensors! I received great advise from WDE82 an 1Addicts member who just told me to buy a new OEM sensor and do not buy anything but OEM or genuine BMW part. thanks WDE82!! |
