Dash cam choices

Looking at HD with G-sensor, night vision though sceptical of its quality and dual lens hoping to cover for rear collisions or car park vandals. I don't want to get a dual unit setup as that would mean some messy cabling. What do you think?

Have a link? I have the PapaGo 520 and have been very happy with both night and day quality. Not a dual cam though.

I have a Goluk T2 and *love* the thing. I have another I intend to install in the back, just been lazy lately I guess (plus I need to figure out where to source ignition power and I suppose that's my delay).

The item description looks good. Do you know if it much better than the T1?
Does the parking monitor function work well as I am looking for this kind of protection?
Did you get another dash cam for the rear or is it the second lens unit to go with the T2?

I cannot comment on the T1 or the T3. I got the T2 (rather than the newer T3) for some reason I can't recall... something to do with the lens maybe? The video quality with the T2 is amazing, even at night (quite incredible, actually).

I don't use the parking security feature. Honestly that's always seemed like a bit of a reach to me, anybody fucking with your car and seeing the dashcam will simply break-in and take the camera. Anybody not wanting to break-in to the car will see the dashcam and find that to be a deterrent. I think. I say this as a guy with a garage (car is not left out overnight).

I wish somebody made a dashcam with just an exposed eye tethered to the electronics with fiber (for increased stealthiness)... but I couldn't find that back when I decided on the T2 (which is quite tiny in the absence of a screen, but still noticeable). Find me that, and then maybe I'd consider parking security.

The camera I have for the back is simply another complete T2 (and not some sort of rear-facing add-on).

The parking security is really to record the retards who ding my car with their shit-box car doors.
Did you ever consider the single cam with forward and rear facing lenses?

Before buying the T2 I'd ordered a PowerLead Puda D003 (to get the rear-facing lens)... but when I took it out of the box and realized how huge it was, I promptly returned it and ultimately wound up with the Goluk.

I bought a Viofo A118C 1 year ago for my other car for US$52, and just ordered a Mini 0903 for US$40 for my BMW from here: http://www.gearbest.com/car-dvr/pp_366780.html

They are cheap enough that everyone should have one. I'm more concerned with actual collisions than vandalism and door dings where you may not even find the person anyway.

A friend of mine was rear-ended at a stop sign and the other person tried to say that my friend reversed into him. wtf?

Another friend started going through an intersection when his light turned green, but hit a car coming from the perpendicular direction that was either really late or outright running the red light. In the end he got a ticket for entering the intersection before it was clear, because the other driver simply claimed that her light was green.

In both of these cases, even just a forward facing dash cam would've cleared things up.

I just tuck the power wire into the headliner like this:

Hiding the power cable will be a challenge. I like both these units for their low profile.

There's lots of way to run the power lines. I tucked mine behind the A pillar and roof liner in about 10 mins. Super easy and can't see any of it.

I have the street guardian and it's been bulletproof for 2 years! I also bought a vantrue n2 which has a front and back camera in a small form factor but went back to the street guardian. I've heard great things about the goluk and almost bought one myself. I'm actually waiting for someone to design one that doesn't look like a camera that doesn't suck. Right now I'm eyeing the Thinkware because it just looks like a highway pass, I just have to figure out how to power it with an external battery for the parking mode as my car has been vandalized twice already (top slashed!!!)

Garage List
2008 BMW 135i  [0.00]
I went with blackvue dr650s-2ch in both my cars with my added on 128gb micro-sd and I installed the B-Cell battery for parking mode ~20Hr. The software is a little buggy using the cell phone to set up and the parking mode is super sensitive picking up too much but I really haven't spent much time dialing it in.

Pros: two camera system (it's really not that messy) with parking mode, if you have the funds can be linked to a wifi hotspot for instant notification with parking mode alerts and no internal battery to fail in the hot Texas sun...
Cons: Software interface crashes and difficult to find needed videos using cell phone/internet (best to just take the SD card to your PC).

I recommend it but there may be a better option as I bought it last September.

There's a site (blackboxmycar.com) that does a pretty good job breaking down a lot of the Korean brands.

Good luck and the install is pretty easy. Took 1-2 hours for two cars.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe the blackvue just requires one power cable for both cameras but again I'm not sure. I'm more interested in the cellink. Do you think I should pass if I don't drive my car on the weekend past the 20hr window? I mean I know it's bad but how would I charge it if I don't drive? I don't want to buy 2 cellink to not have downtime because that's super expensive haha. But I don't want downtime because I've been vandalized twice to the tune of 13k!!!!!

I believe the Thinkware is the rolls royce of dash cams but the only thing keeping me from buying it is figuring out a way to get about 72 hours of parking mode. I want to use some 30k mah external batteries and swap them at night but I'm not sure it is compatible with the 12v required by the high end cams. Anyone with a similar setup? Right now I'm using 5v mini USB dash cam and the USB brick works fine but the higher end ones are 12v with non USB cables. I saw an adapter on amazon but not sure if it will all work together and I don't want to buy all this crap to find out it won't work
