I'm new, and the reason I joined was to figure out a problem.

And I think I now have that problem figured out. But I will look around anyway. I've read this site for the last 6 months, and bought my space gray 135 in March. Great car so far, though it does seem to require a lot of maintenance.

Only 10,000 miles on "summer"tires?

The tech at Discount Tire said my continentals tend to wear out after 10,000 miles. Can that be right? He said "summer tires" tend to wear out very fast. My tires are almost bald in the middle.

Only bald in the middle? Could be uneven wear, in that case sounds like over-pressurized. Check the pressure and see if it's above recommended spec. Also check the wear rating of the tire. It is true that some high performance summer tires wear that quickly, but it depends entirely on the specific tire, your driving habits, car alignment, and tire pressure.

No kidding I have to do front brakes again after a year and a half. I don't even track my car or anything.

The N54 has given me so many problems. Had a 335i for 2 years, must have taken it in to the shop once a month at least. Overheating was the main issue, but others as well. Decided to sell it to a buddy and get an E82 and mod the hell out of it.
