Painting the bottom part of the BMW F80 exhaust?
Hi All,
I am sure I can't be the only one who has noticed that the bottom of the exhaust sticks out way to much when looking from the back of the car. My wife even noticed it the other day and mentioned how the car looks amazing but that part does not. I even put a rear diffuser to help a little. Has anyone thought of painting the muffler part of the exhaust with high temp black paint? It would make it less noticeable but wasn't sure if anyone had tried. Thoughts? P.S. I like the stock exhaust sound so don't plan on switching it out with one that may not be as noticeable. |

I've seen it done to a few f8x in the Boston area, makes it blend In For sure. As last poster says, black bbq paint will DIY it. If you want to drop a bit of cash PM me I know a body shop in metro west who has done it for a few guys and specialize in BMW and exotics.

That muffler sticking out the back is one of the reasons I put an exhaust on my car.

Did mine way back in Dec 2014 (also with VHT paint) whilst waiting on delivery of my eisenmann exhaust - works fine and just that trick alone makes the rear end look way better imo - better still get the hidden can look the Eisenmann provides along with a way better sound.

Yup I did mine (did it to my e90 M3 as well). Always hated the look of the sagging exhaust from behind the vehicle. Painting it with high temp black paint makes it disappear which is exactly what I want.
