Question Akrapovic vs Sports Exhaust

Do you think the Akrapovic exhaust (mid pipes + rear muffler only, no downpipes) would sound drastically better than the sports exhaust in the competition package or is it not worth the upgrade?

Thanks man, just wanted to confirm

I wanted the MPE at first but after seeing all those reports of the muffler can splitting, my only other choice would be the Akrapovic

Yes only if you get the Akra EVO (or delete secondary cats)

Slip on just looks different and soundwise is pretty much like stock

I have the complete EVO and it sounds amazing. Loud only with the valves open and when you get at it

Abu Dhabi Motors (The BMW dealer) said they will only install these (no downpipes) in order to not void the warranty:

1) https://www.akrapovic.com/#!/car/pro...71&yearId=4594

2) https://www.akrapovic.com/#!/car/pro...71&yearId=4594

Is that enough to give the better sound over the Competition Pack Sport Exhaust or would it not be any much better since it has no downpipes?

I'm pretty sure the car in akra vid also has DPs

Akra evo without having DPs is pretty tame and not much louder if at all then stock.

I added DPs to my evo and then it was night and day, prior it was pretty much the same as stock

That's what I wanted to know, whether or not if installed without DPs it would make any difference. In that case, I'll just stick to the stock Sports Exhaust as installing DPs would void my car's warranty according to the Dubai Dealer

The Akrapovic I had on the e92 sounded like a dream. I bought the system for this car with their downpipes and whatever. I don't think anything makes these cars sound great. It's still the best sounding system for our car but don't expect to be wow'd.

I miss the e92 sound.

Akrapovic slip on exhaust + Akrapovic EVO pipe.

Sound will change believe me.

If you want more sound across the entire rev range then yes, dp's are needed.

Akra slip on + midpipe sounds like a slightly louder stock exhaust, which is exactly what I was going for.

I used to have Akra Evolution, now I have AWE nonresonated. AWE is hands down much better. Have stock downpipes

It's louder, deeper, less rasp, zero drone. And the annoying Akra fart is gone!

MPE is a great choice, not arguing with you on that, just answering your question that no, MPE doesn't come with DPs

Akra EVO (mid-pipe) deletes the secondary cats. I am not sure how a dealer can say it will not affect warranty as you are playing with the emissions system.

Further, I am not sure how strict the state is in your country, but over here, they can impound your car on the spot if they find you tampered with the emissions system. Something to consider...

The MPE retains the primary and secondary cats, but replaces the mid resonator with an H-pipe. It is fully emissions compliant (as a factory system should be).
