Dreaded Error Messages
And so, after 2 months of ownership, it begins!.... Been getting a Dynamic Damping Control Error message for the last week or so. The ride feels fine and I don't notice anything particularly wrong. Sometimes when the error message appears it will lock the EDC in current mode or put it in Sport.
The car seems to forget the fault once the engine is turned off, it doesn't appear in the stored faults in iDrive when I start it again. It doesn't happen on every journey either (my average commute is 20-25mins each way) - but it is happening regularly enough for it to concern me. Coincidentally, I got some random errors at the weekend - one for a puncture (i had a variance of about 3-4psi!!) and one for a rear brake light failure (it was, and still is, working fine). Neither error have occurred again since. I've checked the front EDC connectors and seem to be fine (I'm not sure how to check the rears). Has anyone had a similar error before? I'm not sure if its something to worry about or possibly just a lose connection somewhere. Maybe even a low battery and that's why I've had a few random errors appear (although I've had no low battery warnings). Oh and I have Eibach Springs installed...but didn't think they would effect the EDC. |

I had them on my car and NJ o such messages. I think you're on the right track with the battery issue... but have you got a code reader (carly for example)? Be useful to see what other codes have come up that aren't bring displayed through the iDrive ...

I have stu's old eibachs on my EDC shocks, no errors. If you're around Cottesloe I can hook my laptop up and read the codes for you.

Had the same error message that came and went after installing my kw HAS suspension. Found out it was a loose EDC connector on top of the shock. Hasnt come back since.
Only error message now is the SOS failure one😣 |

You've never gotten the increased battery discharge error?
Check the voltage on your battery when the car is running and when you get the errors straight away. If it's ~12v your alternator is on its way out. It could be intermitently working enough to run your battery low then charge it back up. Might be a loose battery or ground connection somewhere also. Check the cables around the battery. Cooleh7 - I can clear your SOS error if you're in Sydney. |
