Cool Euro Spec LCI Headlights + US Adaptive Xenons = Hybrid?

Hey all,

So as everyone of you I love the 1 series,

But every car has it's problems..

Mechanical issues aside... the headlights.

The headlights on the 1 series are the most hideous that BMW made
from that year on. They are wayy too fat (height wise).

Something a long the lines of a slimmer E92 headlight...

ANYWAYS, the question being:

Can I purchase a EURO spec halogen headlight (with that nice LED strip @ the top), and replace it w/ a stock EURO internals with my US spec

Has anyone done this with any success??

Buying a whole new set of EURO Spec XENONS is around $1k

Taking apart my headlights to get the amber out seems sketch.

I am kind of confused as to what you're asking.
You can just buy Euro headlights and install them. If you buy the LCI's with the LED strip you'll need to DIY the extra pin to power the LED strip (if you have a pre-LCI 1 series).

EDIT: I actually have ordered a pair of Euro LCI Xenon/Adaptive headlights and am waiting for them to arrive

Sorry I'm also not quite getting what you're asking either, can you clarify? It seems like you're saying you want to get a EU non-xenon bulb, and then put EU internals in it "with US spec"?? What? What EU internals? And what US parts are you talking about?

There is a company in Lithuania called Autowin, here's their site:

https://www.autowin.eu/en/preke/bmw-...del=4&body=e82

They also sell their products on eBay, which is where I purchased them. All their parts are OEM used

Paid a lot but, I am in love with these headlights!

They will be arriving in a few days!

He wants to swap his Xenon internals into the cheaper Euro housing for clear corners and LCI strip.

OP: might as well send your headlights to OSS/ONEighty

Buy the Euro housings. There's a good chance you'll end up with a leaky mess that doesn't function properly.

LCI Halogen headlights do not have the LED strip bi-xenons have.

Yup ^

I love the look of the new LCI with the LED strip up top, and I hate the orange corner on US spec cars.

I know some people take the housing apart and just remove the oranges corner. I am thinking about doing that, and installing an actual LED ring for the angle eyes instead of having the LED "lit" ring. But when people take apart their headlight to remove the orange corner, what do they replace it with? or is it just removed period with no replacement?

The second thing I was wondering was buying a EURO spec LCI halogen headlight. Because it's way cheaper than a xenon. Now, with that Euro spec halogen, would I be able to replace all the internals with my US headlight? The result would be a EURO spec LCI headlight with US xenon/adaptive internals.

Obviously the best thing to do is to buy EURO LCI xenons, but for that amount of money I rather get a set of VMR 19s

Ahhh ok, did not know that. well then the halogens are out.

I guess I'll either just take apart mine to take out that corner (do I swap it with a clear one? I haven't seen a replacement available for purchase anywhere).

Or I'll just buy EURO spec LCI xenons down the line.. I guess I could sell my old US spec xenons and get some cash back... like I did when I bought my black line taillights and sold the old ones

Biggest reason I want the LED strip up top is because my biggest issue with the 1 series is the headlight, apart from the orange corner; I feel like the headlight is too thick. If they made it a little thinner, like the E92, it would have looked a lot nicer. The LED strip slims down the headlight.

That's exactly how I feel word for word. How hard is it to take them apart? Also I've seen the white piece around the led strip painted, I think it also gives the housing a slimmer profile.
