USB overheating?

Hello-

I like to listen to my music via USB by using a flash drive . Today I plugged in a new Patriot Supersonic 128GB 3.0 and it work fine for 1 minute. I pulled the flash drive and noticed the drive was really hot. I have had 3 other flash drives fail in my car but did not link the failures. I am now thinking that maybe my USB port in my car is defective? The other flash drives that failed were all USB 3.0 in various sizes from 32GB, 64GB and 128GB and made by lexar and sandisk.

Has anyone encountered this before?

I use an old patriot xt USB 2.0 device. No noticeable heat generated.

Many people do complain about overheating issues when dealing with those newfangled tiny USB dongles that are all plug. It seems like it is a dongle issue more so than the port itself. I've been meaning to try this myself but have been very hesitant for this very reason.

never had this issue in my previous M4 to be honest, seems like the USB port might be giving extra power? can you have it checked at the dealership?
