Digital speed display
My 135i is less than one week in my garage and I'm still learning.
I found that a pull on the "cruise control" stalk will change the centre digital display to show the current speed digitally but it will revert once the stalk is released. I couldn't find this in the owner's handbook. Is it possible to set this digital readout on? |

You can code it in.
Example of what it looks like: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...php?p=13957151

v-max digital speedo display...
M3 digital speedo... As stated above... you can have this digital speedo display(selected thru the BC button) coded to your car. You can have it read the same as your speedo, or have it display the "true" vehicle speed.
Many coders can do this for very little money(<$20). Or use a remote coding service or just purchase BMW Carly app(for your phone) and buy a OBDII dongle(from Amazon, etc) and code it yourself. Here is a better pic from the interwebs... " V = xxx"

Yes I've done it with my Carly adapter and app. Took 5minutes and was very easy. Lots of other fun stuff in there too

Cheers. I've heard that a cheaper solution is available that requires a downloadable file and an adapter but the Carly app looks promising. Would you be able to provide a link to the adapter and any instructions? I've already found the Carly app site.

I did this this morning after reading this thread. Thanks guys.
I'd recommend following the hardware recommendations of the MHD threads - OBDII adapter, USB OTG cable & Android tablet. That way you'll be able to use the same setup for Carly, MHD and xHP. I had all the hardware (have a JB4 BEF via MHD) - it took about 10 minutes from buying the app in the store, to having it all coded and driving off. Dead easy, point and click. |

The way that a particular OBDII adapter connects to your phone/laptop depends solely on the adapter. Some are wifi, some are BT, some are even hard wired.

So if I intend to just "set and forget" then the cheapest OBD-II adapter will suffice? I'm not that interested in running a phone app to show real time data whilst I'm driving (I just want to switch on/off some of the car's dash data).

Nope, not all adapters can code. For instance, I have a "read only" adapter. Make sure the one you choose is compatible with the app/software you want to use.

I chose a cheap amazon adapter. It does the job well for the speedo on the dash and the 5 turn signal blink. If ur in the LA area feel free to message me. I'll do the coding.
