What is this orange car symbol with the 1? Wasn't there in my 14 435i

lol I'm thinking it's profile 1. But is it really necessary to display it all the time? lol. The more I use this new idrive the more I miss the old one I had in the 14 435i

Ok I've only had this car for 24 hrs but two things I've noticed that are annoying

1- in the radio screen it used to use the whole screen to show the song and artist. Now it uses only a quarter of the screen and uses the bottom half to show my presets. Why do I need to constantly see a list of my presets?

2- this is the most annoying. I have the top view cameras. It used to be when you were in reverse you simply had to press down on the idrive knob to switch to top down view. That's now gone. You have to push left and click and scroll down. This is very annoying.

but about point #2, once you are in top view mode, it remembers that until you switch back manually to the rear camera. So the next time you reverse, if you were in the top view mode before, it will still be in that view

Ya but I always start my parking with the rear view camera but switch to top view to see where the lines are. Old way was better

Vehicle Service/CCM/OTA Notifications. Color is level, digit indicates the number of messages.

The dealership pointed this out to me when I first got my M3 last month. Prior to your first service, there is always a notification letting you know service is coming up at 1200 miles.

That orang icon is the "profile" icon. The number indicates which profile it is. In this case it's profile #1.

If you go to my vehicle --> driver profiles. Uncheck the "show driver profiles at startup" and its gone.

I'm pretty sure this means you have a service message. I have the same thing. If you go to notifications you should see 1 message. For me it's a message counting down to my 1200 mile run in service.

Incorrect. This is an indication that there is 1 service coming up. The icon indicates the most recent notification, and the number indicates the number of notifications.

For instance I sent a message to my car, and I just took delivery so I have the 1200 mile service "notification". I had a envelope and a 2 next to it in this area.

When I removed the message, I had the car and a 1. It is to indicate that there is a notification in reference to a service issue. If you had a lot of problems with your car, or a lot of services ready, a car plus the number 5 wouldn't mean profile 5

OMG! I thought it was me! I had a 16 M4 and just got a 17 M3 and noticed this too.

Please tell me coding can fix this... ugh.

No... not that I know of. I emailed BMW engineering about it. The additional crappy part about it is the stupid warning label that always pops up in the exact spot that you want to see. Fortunately the label can be coded out. I started to get used to its location, but it's still less than idea, and confusing if you have 2 BMWs, one with it "normal" and one with it reversed.
