CarPlay issues

im experiencing alot of crackaling when receiving or making calls through car play . it happens most times not all the time . i have to manually get the phone change the mode to phone speaker mode then put it back to carplay for it to get beter . this is has been so annoying . its a 17 x5m with the latest idrive , i phone 6plus.

anyone have similar issues?

I have an iPhone 6 and haven't noticed this. But I used CarPlay only briefly. The iDrive platform is so much better for my uses.

Erase your phone from the iDrive and then reboot your phone and resync with the car over Bluetooth. If that doesn't work then connect the phone over USB and see if it happens that way as well.

Also go under iPhone settings>Reset>Reset Network Settings and do that. You won't hurt anything at all by doing this. It may fix your issue.

ive replaced the iphone with another new 6s and same issue .strange . since i bought the car its had the issue from first day of carplay being added . so far only over wireless but i haven't tried wired yet . will try it tommorow for the day see what happens

I have the same issue with mine. Issue was consistent with iPhone 6S and now 7. I've found that it goes away after 30 seconds or so... but still really annoying. It does not do it on every call, though. Generally only the first call I make (if at all), and never on incoming calls.

Dealer installed an update for CarPlay a few months ago and, while it resolved some other issues within CarPlay, it did not fix the static/crackling issue.

Do you guys have issues with your iPhone via the BMW iDrive platform instead of Carplay? Calls are crystal clear for me on my iPhone 6 with that.

I have not tried it. I like the functionality of CarPlay, so I have learned to live with the crackling for the short amount of time that it happens (since it doesn't happen daily).

its funny that , because if i pair it up via bmw bluetooth it works perfectly with no crackling at all . its only via the car play option this issue exists and its damm annoying . the law has changed in the uk as of last week , anyone caught on the mobile phone whilst driving now faces 6 penalty points and £400+ fine . so this is sort of a big deal now as 1 could lose their license
