HK Upgrade Anyone?

Hi there, New to here and BMW so bare with me!. Had my F80 M3 a couple of months now and i love it. It has the HK Upgrade which is ok but i could do with some extra bass as the underseat woofers arent very punchy or as i would like anyway. Also the mids and tweeters could do with being louder. Anyway i recently had my car into a local dealers to have mids, tweeters, underseat subs, and Amp upgraded to Focal which i understand are great components. Anyway i was shortly told they couldnt get it to sound right, bass just wasnt sufficient. They apparently had loads of issues with signal etc which they had to install a fibre converter or something which still didnt work.
Has anyone upgraded their HK and if so how and what have you used please. I want closure that they cant be upgraded as i still dont understand what the issues they faced?.
Thanks!
Chris

Do they give much improvement over HK speakers then and do they leverage the HK Amp? Im trying to understand why Focal one of the best brands of speakers wouldnt work in the M3 as expected. Also i cant find BavSound Dealer for UK. and BavSound dont deliver outside the USA.

They are made specifically to upgrade Whatever BMW system you specify. Perfect fit. Under seat sub upgrade available as well. Bavarian soundworks or bavsound. Do a search of it on here and you'll find most of what you want to know. Easy bet. Safe bet.

And they are a huge improvement over the hk speakers. I thought my hk speakers were complete trash. The system is good, the speakers junk.

EAS sells Bavsound and I think they ship internationally.

I dont have an M4, however did have one for the weekend, the HK does sound good for what it is, it has more speakers than my E90, however I think the focal sound is higher and crisper, the Bass is has more depth, you can feel the bass under your backside. I had the bass turned all the way up it is punchy but you don't feel the bass as you should with a big sub in the trunk.

Focal does that I think. Good luck with the search. Bavsound sounds expensive and so does Focal however heard mixed reviews with Bavsound.

I had Focal IFBMW-S in my previous M5 and have Bavsound speakers and Ghostsubs in my current M4. To me, Bavsound sounds fuller/clearer with less intense highs. And, according to Bavsound, they are tuned to the specific vehicle for which they are made and makes better use of the stock HK amp.

Definitely worth giving them a call to see if they can work something out regarding shipping.

I bought a set of Bavsound speakers for my E46 a few years ago. They came alive when the volume was cranked way up but when trying to listen to them at normal volume, it was like they were barely on. It seemed that they weren't getting enough juice from the stock HK amp. I don't think Bavsound ever did release the amplifier that was supposed to compliment their speakers.

I was able to return the speakers for a refund. The speakers were a disappointment but the company was great to deal with.

Maybe things are different now and if I'm ever interested in an upgrade, I'll try them again. However, I'm a complete skeptic regarding any reviews that claim they are significantly better than the stock HK speakers, especially when utilizing the same amp.

The Bavsound speakers definitely bring an improvement on the F80 H/K.

My tip: if you're hesitant, do not start the upgrade with the Stage 1, start with only the Ghost subwoofers instead, as they bring the most improvement in sound resolution and clarity, since the subs play quite high freqs in these cars.
