Anyone here use Laser Jammers?

Thinking about getting a Jammer kit. Are they worth it? has anyone had any luck with these things?

Thanks

I was thinking about getting one but learned, unlike radar detectors, that using a Jamer or even a licence plate cover ( that also disrupts the laser signal) is a criminal offence, scared the hell out of me thinking that I could get a criminal record for "interfering with a police officer's performance of his duty." Maybe different in the US but be sure to check..... Good luck!

First of all the laws differ by state so please check before you purchase.

I opted for the Stinger VIP radar detector and laser jammer suite and couldn't be happier with the product, it's performance, customer support and the company writ large.

Haven't gotten a ticket to date and I have seen dudes on me with a gun.

Go on-line, do your research, there is a sticky in this forum on it, Roy's something website is a good source as well.

I've had one on my old car and I've been saved by it twice, but as I've gotten older, I've been driving slower.

I have the escort 9500ci with the laser interceptors/Jammers.

They work great and can personally say that these do scramble the radar so "they" can't get a reading. They also detect radar from pretty far away. Check out the stealth install option in the rear view mirror!

Highly recommended.

Stinger VIP is the system that allows the most discrete installation, especially if going with the Fiber jammers.

I'm running a NetRadar (STiR like) + ALP Jammer setup installed in late September for an October road trip. The jammers haven't had to function often, but on that trip the system paid for itself I'd figure 1.5 times.

I looked into them and determined cost of system + install (including uninstalling and reinstalling on new car when getting a new car) was too much for me so I didn't do it. Thus far I've gotten one ticket with laser (hopefully saying that doesn't jinx me). They are legal where I live but as noted earlier legality varies by state.

I struggled with the same question as you did when recently buying. After it was all said and done, I went with a V1 with mirror tap. I had the Passport 360 in hand, and I felt it was just too bulky looking and feeling, so back to the store it went.

Why I didnt go with Laser jamming... $$$ was the primary reason, secondly if you're noticeably "flying" on a highway or what have you - and get pegged with any sort of detection when its too late.. maybe you could argue the actual speed you were going when you got tagged, but if a Trooper feels like it, he/she can slap you with reckless driving, which is wayyy worse than a speeding ticket.

V1 + Waze = comfort for me.
Waze on unknown roads is a must IMHO

I had the Laser Interceptors on my C63. Saved me a ton driving back and forth from FL to CT. I would get the ALP for my M3... just gotta justify the cost

I don't know where your information comes from but no sellable radar decting setup in the USA "scrambles radar". Radar is based on radio-wave communication which is governed by the FCC. No device would get market approval in this country if jamming radio waves - I believe you're going to need to be a governmental agency to even get through step 1 of acquiring a radio signal jammer.

The laser jammers are not in the same class - laser is light transmission, not radio waves, and is not governed by the FCC. Laser Jamming is indeed illegal in some states, and "illegal" in all when you consider that an obstruction charge is valid against a user of laser jamming equipment - but that should avoid a points carrying ticket. Now, if you're FLYING and jam the lasers, the LEO will still likely bang you based on estimation of observed speed, but going 15 over and tagged by laser, the jammers should allow enough time to downshift 2 or 3 times, and lightly scrub off some speed using brakes to get near/at the limit. If you're using jammers, be careful to not stab at the brake pedal when they activate, you upset the attack angle of the car greatly and become much more susceptible to punch-through.

Good luck, I'll likely do an ALP+ setup on all of my fun cars going forward.

*EDIT* FWIW, I got hit with laser in the 11x range in an 80 zone, about 1/3 mile warning, maybe a little more, and passed the LEO at approx 83mph -- he didn't budge. Paid for my system right there.

He has reviews on every system out there and is the go to for anything radar or laser related.

ALP jammers are the best you can get. They're a bit bigger than the stinger heads but still fairly small compared to the escort heads for example.

Install is the part that'll kill you as most shops charge an arm and a leg. I was quoted $6k for the whole system installed. Decided to buy the ALP jammers plus NetRadar on my own and do the install myself.

Cool info, I appreciate it.... I apologize if my terminology in the "Radar World" is not not up to par.

I've been pulled over a few times and, long story short, the radar screen blinks the word "BLOCKED" and the cops have said, " good thing your radar jammed my gun so I couldn't get a reading... have a nice day"

I understand I'm not scrambling radar waves but what is happening then that they can't get a accurate reading?? Regardless I don't get a ticket because they don't prove the speed.

No worries, not trying to be a dick, apologies. Honestly, read the whole manual and/or talk to the seller/installer about this functionality though. The thing is if you have a setup that is jamming radar transmission I'd get it out of the car or disabled if possible. Fines that would come along with that type of device, especially, say driving past an airport, aren't something I'd like to dabble in.

That's something I've not encountered before with either of my RD setups. It could be laser getting jammed - I'm not familiar with the readout terminology on the 9500 + mirror integration, hence my read all documentation suggestion. I'm in North Jersey as well and rarely get tagged with Laser. I have gotten hit on NY State roads, NJ Turnpike/Parkway, and in VA/GA/AL, the last two more frequently than anywhere else I've been.

*Thinking on this a little longer - the blocked message could be the jammers auto terminating due to getting a hit. I know I have mine set to jam for 7 seconds, then kill, so the laser will read properly at the gun. That could be a baked in Escort feature and the terminology is different, but you read the info and let us know*.

Same setup here - I get more "Poliscan" falses than I'd like, but my other filtering has been excellent. How many heads are you running?
