Looking to get a 09-13 E90 M. I'm a Noob to M's......what should I look out for?

Hi All,

I'm a previous 08 335i E90 owner and have been missing BMWs since I sold it a few years ago. I'm looking to get a 09-13 E90 M and drove my first M yesterday (test drive) and loved it! I'm looking to spend around $30k.

After reading the forums, I know about the rod bearing issues, but are there M specific stuff I should look out for?

The car I test drove yesterday had this awful howling noise when the heater/fan was on full blast (posted yesterday). Also it had this weird mismatch of color under the hood and under the trunk lid.

The car is an 09 Silverstone Silver, but you can clearly see the white color (didn't feel like smooth paint, but kinda like primer). The door jams are the color of the car. The carfax said 2 small rear accidents.

Is this normal for M3s?

When in doubt, leave it out.

The color mismatch under the hood and trunk are normal...they are not clear coated. There are no 12-13 e90's.

I thought M3 sedans were 12-13 too. Good to know. See I am a noob.

I'm looking at one in a few days. Wish me luck!
